PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police have issued a warning that people driving dangerously through Phuket Check Point following alarm raised through posts on social media that police at the checkpoint were on the lookout to make arrests.

Phuket Provincial Police yesterday identified one Thai news report announcing that officers at the Tha Chatchai Police had received the official order 148/2564, “Re: Assigning duties to the Crime Suppression Division on October 12, 2021 by allowing the police officers working in traffic to issue a ticket to the offender in the specified amount.”

“Phuket Provincial Police would like to clarify that traffic discipline to reduce accidents is an important policy of the state in solving the problem of reducing the loss of life, body and property of the people as a whole,” the Provincial Police said in its response posted online.

By going too fast. Not all cars are stopped at checkpoints/roadblocks.

Killing someone on the road, might be a proof that someone was going too fast., Maybe, because one could argue that it is all a big misunderstanding, or that this someone was in a hurry, or...

But going too fast at a checkpoint, get real....

How do they work out that a driver is driving dangerously at a check point?

Can only be 'speed'.

In the past, there have been frequent accidents in the area of Tha Chatchai Police Station. This is partly due to speeding

Really?  How can you drive dangerously at a checkpoint? The vehicles are stationary (or virtually so).

As has been said countless times before by multitudinous posters the way to catch dangerous drivers is for the police to get their backsides into patrol cars and watch what goes on away from a useless checkpoint. But that will never happen. Checkpoints = easy money.

really?   its a checvkpoint.. all drive slow... whats thins?   some dream or what?   just shows news is full of <deleted> as usual

RTP - Do your job properly and crackdown on dangerous driving everywhere that it occurs. Bad road behaviour won't change until consistent application of the laws is enforced.

The Thais could start by proper driver training in the first place. Their 'instructors' clearly don't know what they are doing. You only have to watch the total confusion and indecision at the two roundabouts near me to see that as a fact.

So much so that near to the Uni in Buriram they took the bloody things out and installed traffic lights. But do they adhere to the lights?

Always the same with traffic managers, if in doubt, put in a set of traffic lights.  All they do is make up for <deleted> poor driving
