Popular Post webfact Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 file photo While Thailand's media was banging on about Phuket being busy and restaurants serving alcohol up to 9 pm being "exciting" in Bangkok, Hua Hin bucked the trend. The chairman of the Prachaup Khiri Khan Tourism Business Association said the seaside resort had received no benefits from the reopening of Thailand after two days. Rungroj Seeleuangsawat said there were no foreign tourists in town. In November there was only 10% advance bookings at hotels - and they were all domestic Thai tourists, not foreigners. He said that the industry would just have to wait in Hua Hin. He blamed the unclear rules that have baffled tourists. "We're ready and open", he said. "But only Thais are coming, and not many of them". Early Daily News had reported from Phuket and Bangkok optimistically touting the Thai government's November 1st reopening as a highly positive step that had had an instant impact. Meanwhile, many people on online forums put the matter into sharper perspective. Plenty said they would wait and see before returning to Thailand amid continuing confusion about what documents they needed, how to get everything sorted and worries about what would happen if they tested positive for Covid in the kingdom. Popular Post bkk_bwana Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 Given that they only announced, officially, that Thailand was opening a week ago, I see it highly unlikely that hordes of foreigners would have immediately made bookings to travel. Oh, and arranged insurance, and arranged a PCR test. Patience please. It is going to take many months for people to start travelling here in reasonable numbers. 4 3
Popular Post ArcticFox Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 Come February and the heat and smoke, I wonder how many within TAT and the government will be able to overcome their 'face' and face the fact that highly restrictive and complicated entry requirements have decimated their already floundering foreign tourism and High-Season 2021 - 2022 was a complete wash? What happy-talk with greet us all in 2022? What will they need to recover? "You have two shot?" (stamp stamp). "30 days tourist visa on arrival for you. Welcome to Thailand!" 4

If people want to travel, the $100 for 30 days insurance is not going to put them off. If people want to travel, a PCR test is not going to put them off. People just are not ready to travel yet and the program has only just started. How many people actually say 'I'm going to Thailand next week, I'll book now"? 29 minutes ago, champers said: The city that never wakes up. Tosseroon Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 It would help if they published a list of SHA+ hotels until one has been booked you cannot think about booking an international flight to Thailand ????????????????????????
Popular Post Gsxrnz Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 TAT don't realise it yet, but they are in the process of discovering the Thai version of the solution to quadratic and cubic equations. The solution to these equations rely on the acceptance of negative numbers which often in mathematical circles (pun intended) are referred to as "imaginary numbers". Very soon, TAT will announce that the number of foreign tourists expected next year will be five minus the square root of negative 15 to the power of the square root of negative one, and nobody will be able to prove them wrong. 2 1

Popular Post smedly Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 I know a few have travelled to Phuket from inside Thailand, it was also interesting that when figures were published yeterday that over 6,000 had left Thailand In the OP photo - there seem to be a lot of waitresses in that place seving about 3 customers lol - hardly groundbreaking is it and as we all know just like their daily covid figures - TAT figures are just as suspect, however it seems Hua Hin is being open and honest about the reality of Thailands so called opening - it is an absolute failure and the reasons are obvious to most 4
WhiteBuffaloATM Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 2019 Foreign Tourists : Hua Hin 1 million/ Phuket 10 mil / Pattaya 9 mil. / Bangkok 18 mil / Chiang Mai 3 mil. Total Thailand 41 mil.. ZERO Reported so far in HH & CM since 1 Nov, but that’s only 3 days ago. “Thailand Pass” scheme replaces COE 7Nov and appears an utter fiasco at present.

You know that is - all about misdirection and slight-of-hand. The principle of existence.

Popular Post Sametboy2019 Posted November 3, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 3, 2021 Looked at room prices in Pattaya last week for the 3rd November. It seems the hotels have already gone into high season prices without the tourists to warrant them. Must of thought people would be lining up to come in. 3
mikosan Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Is anyone surprised? Hua Hin has been sold down the river again, along with Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Promises from the government broken, as usual, and preferential treatment given to Bangkok. The new governor of Prachuabkhirikhan needs to pull his fist out of his *rse and get things moving. He could start by opening the schools on 15th November, not simply 'thinking' about it. 2

superal Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 If this coming high season is a flop , as HH is demonstrating , I would imagine that the majority of workers employed in the "leisure " industry will be seeking alternative and more reliable jobs . That will have a huge impact on Thailand's tourism . Even a 50% migration from the tourist industry will have serious implications .

About 90% were Thais returning and the few farangs onboard were returning here for long term stays or travelling with their Thai wife. 3
