Thailand on Saturday (November 6) reported 8,467 new COVID-19 cases, 8,288 recoveries and 69 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,931,176

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,815,592

 

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,960,039 with 19,611 deaths.

 

The news comes as the Central Vaccination Center (CVC) at Bang Sue Grand Station in Bangkok yesterday started rolling out the mixed AstraZeneca-Pfizer vaccine regimen for unvaccinated people, giving AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine as the first dose and Pfizer’s as the second dose. The two vaccines are administered 28 days apart.

 

CVC Director Dr. Mingkwan Wichaidit said this new vaccine regimen is available only for those who have not received any COVID-19 jabs before, while those receiving AstraZeneca as their first jab here in October will be offered the same vaccine (AstraZeneca) as their second dose because the recommended interval between two AstraZeneca jabs is longer than the one adopted for this mixed vaccine regimen.

 

The CVC has received a new supply of 400,000 AstraZeneca doses to be given as the first jabs in the current offering. Appointments have already been made for some 200,000 doses.

Looks like we are in a slow upward trend now.  Cases of new infections a little higher than the recoveries and discharges.

 

Looks like the new combination method of AZ and Pfizer soon to be jabbed is now being conducted.

 

Glad to see vaccinations continuing at a decent pace.

 

Let's see how the numbers play out as far as cases go with the opening of November 1st and the relaxing of regulations. It seemed very busy last night at all ofthe restaurants here in Silom with many having a drink with dinner and friends.

 

I did notice that the majority seemed to be wearing marks and social distancing which is good.

Amazing. It's now November and they're talking about 1st jabs. If administered as per manufacture's guidelines these people if they got their AZ shot today will not be fully vaccinated until mid April next year. This will not be the case I would think and instead of the recommended 12 wks between jabs it will be 3 for another AZ or Pfizer. In Israel now you must show that it has been less than 6 months since your 2nd jab and if it's more you must show you have had your 3rd or booster shot to be considered fully vaccinated. Here they are talking about administering 1st shots with less than 50% of the nation (12yrs+ I assume) considered fully vaccinated. 

Phuket marks 62 new COVID cases

 

PHUKET: The latest Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) daily COVID situation report has marked 62 new local infections confirmed across the island yesterday (Nov 5) bringing the total number of people recognised as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket since Apr 3 to 15,542.

Health officials on Friday (Nov 5) reported 94 new COVID-19 cases – the first time new cases have been below one hundred in almost one month.

40 cases were found in Hua Hin.

Elsewhere in the province, 37 cases were found in Pranburi, 1 case in Sam Roi Yot, 2 cases in Kuiburi, zero cases found in Thap Sakae, N0- case in Bang Saphan, NO- case in Bang Saphan Noi, and 14 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan.

1 more death was reported today, a Thai man age 62-year-old, lived in Hua Hin district, and had a congenital disease and was not vaccinated.

Latest official data from the worldometer ranking table for deaths/million of population over the past 7 days, including yesterday’s numbers, shows Thailand up one place at 69th the world, 24 places below the UK.

 

Same table shows Thailand remain at 14th in Asia, 7 places below the Philippines and 2 places above Vietnam. 
 

The trend in the number of deaths over the past week remains at 7 deaths/million of population, up 6% from yesterday over the 7 day period, with the number of official infections falling 8%

Yes there still continues to be a very high burden on the hospitals with 43,490 being treated in real hospitals a rise from 42,813 yesterday but tracking back to the 4th Oct it was only 37,535.

 

For those that like to compare to the UK, they had 9,311 as of the 3rd Nov

This was a worry when they decided to open up and lift restrictions. One has to wonder how much interprovincial travel has played.

As for the three new deaths yesterday, they were elders aged between 65 to 92. They were close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families according to the Chonburi Department of Public Health. They all had chronic health problems and were not vaccinated.

Thanks for reporting this, Brian.  It's pretty devastating for the line being sold by the Covid deniers around here that the number of hospitalizations has increased by 14% in one month.

They need to stop the nonsense, with all the schemes they are devising , trying to do it on the cheap, and vaccinate the people,

Nothing else will work.

I just came from an annual local wat fund raiser at a house of a relative of my wife. 

There were dozens of people sitting at close proximity to each other, food being served and very few wore a mask, as it is impossible to eat with a mask on. 

I have pictures but I will not post them as to not incriminate anyone.   

We all need to realise, in these villages are mostly related or know each other for so long they might as well be.  No one is enforcing these covid rules. 

This thing is not going to end until they get most people vaccinated.  All these quarantines of foreigners  and other machinations are for show and public consumption.

Maybe but personally I can't see that they would drop numbers to make things look worse in relation to vaccination numbers. They started jabbing people with AZ or mix jabs 3 wks apart to bolster the numbers.

And for those of you that have not managed to gleen the reason for the UK,s lower Hospitalizations.

The UK are testing upwards of One Million people every single day.

This means they are able to control the Virus because positives are found early on into the Infection, and are able to be treated away from badly needed Hospital beds

The primary reason is that a much higher percentage of people have been vaccinated in the UK, and also a far higher number than In Thailand have already had and recovered from Covid19.

 

It's really all about vaccination- not much else really matters, beyond some basic mask wearing and hand washing.

Sadly and more importantly, the UK has a much higher death rate/million of population over the past 7 days at 17/million of population compared to Thailand.

Yes it does however its excess deaths are far lower than Thailand's infact its only 1k+ above its five year average for the latest figures. Where as Thailand's is 3k+ above and thats just the latest figure, very sad especially considering the previous thousands Thailand has had in excess deaths in this wave. Testing counts

The Department of Medical Sciences has been ramping up their testing capabilities and have declared it can now perform 120,000 RT-PCR Covid-19 tests per day. They say it can complete the tests and offer results within 24 hours at any of their 443 active labs that are certified to conduct the tests.

Anyone travelling to Thailand is already required to complete a test with negative results within the 72 hours prior to their departure, but every person landing in Thailand is also obligated to take a second test as soon as they arrive in the Kingdom.

Again countries classify Covid-19 deaths differently. The UK changed how they classified and the historical death toll went up. I wonder if Thailand has reclassified it's way of classifying Covid-19 deaths. Deaths from Covid-19 to deaths with covid-19. The UK changed from deaths with to deaths from. This I would say is bourne out in excess death numbers. Deaths with doesn't count.

Guess they should start now. 8,000 without including ATK will be around 32,000. Go out and find. Get positives then test the surrounds not just close contacts. Proactive not reactive. Fairly sure those with any sense have been saying this for 19 months.

Don't think we'll see any increase in community testing, this is purely an exercise to try to stop delays with the "Test & Go" arrivals. 

In Europe the next wave has set in, will hit Thailand soon, then see numbers rise. In Germany the other day 32000 new cases, here from 2 days ago, and the second table from Yesterday
