Any Other Countries Requiring "Non-Quarantine" Quarantine?

I did a quick search and couldn't find evidence of any other country requiring people to do a test and enter lockdown until the results came in.

Anyone know of any other country imposing this on incoming tourists?

Also, is it true Thais are not required to do the same?

To enter Japan all travelers  need a PCR test 72 hours preflight.

Upon arrival in Japan you do a test at the airport. Wait for results.

Then all travelers enter 14 day quarantine. For fully vaccinated travelers

there is a way to exit quarantine 3 days early by taking a test at own expense on day 10.

Aircrew are handled differently

My mate went there august and only did 7 days quarantine, then 7 days isolation at his wifes house, it was not 14 days quarantine.

He's a fully vaxed human,

He did 14 days quarantine. 7 at government paid Hotel ( likely because he came from UK?), then 7 at home. This summer it depended on what country you come from. Indians did 10 days hotel Americans 3.

No, he did 7 days quarantine and 7 days isolation, not the same thing at all, not even close.

I know what you mean but that is what they call it. It is Home quarantine 14 days  if you come from a low risk country, now reducible to 10 if vaccinated  I have been following it closely and have been to Tokyo 7 times in last 6 weeks. The main thing is you cannot use public transport. The 3 days hotel have been eliminated  for arrivals from USA. They make you download tracking apps and have line calls daily. I guess it is not very strict I have heard they even allow "essential shopping within walking distance".

Well noted - again this is another place off the radar for tourists then, sound worse than the restrictions in Thailand.

Only reason my mate went was to collect his wife and young child to return to UK.

Why not?

Tourists & visitors do not normally have anywhere to isolate so they are effectively quarantined.

When I went to the UK in August my self isolation was a quarantine package at the Gatwick Holiday Inn.

Thais have to obtain ThailandPass like foreigners to re-enter Thailand, with the same rules. The only difference is that they don't need insurance.

(well, there is another subtle difference due to language, Thai version says that you can leave as soon as you get the negative result, English version says that you have to spend one night regardless. I intend to find out soon which is the correct one)
