Popular Post klauskunkel
It's not about preserving culture, but preserving another control mechanism over the populace. The more restrictive laws you have in place, the more control you can exert over the people.

Headgame
Another great chuckle to start the day. Today there is no contradiction between porn and Thai culture. Watching porn is a choice. My gf and I use it to get the engines started quickly and away we go. But hey, that's just our "culture".

Whenever I'm eating or having a coffee out in the market, I overhear my wife with the ladies and the local gossip. In this there's often "mia noi, mia noi...", talk of someone's mistress. Everyone knows who the attractive ladies are in the area, how they don't need to work, and don't get married as the alternative is far more lucrative. Someone with the dosh is taking care of them, business owners, govt officials, police officers. It makes the bar scene everyone points at pale in comparison.

raccos21
Culture plays a very important role in those days before technology because word and information can only spread between people, but in today’s modern world, anyone can access the resources by themselves. Popular Post Hanuman2547
I love Thai culture! I've been to many Thai cultural sites in a few different Thai cities. Some of my favorites are Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, and Patpong in Bangkok. Walking Street, Soi Bhukaew, Soi 6, LK Metro, and other places in Pataya. Bangla Road in Phuket. All fine places that exhibit Thai culture and are known world wide. 1
Mr Derek
There's only one way to deal with this - the same way prostitution has been dealt with for thousands of years: frown on it officially, but don't stamp it out. That preserves morals and caters to human nature. Of course they are not going to say 'porn is ok' - that's the road to degeneracy. I applaud any culture defending their culture (and not invading anyone else's).
