Witnesses to the accident reportedly told Phan Thong police that one of the two motorbike riders might have been driving the wrong way on the road.

All to familiar occurrence in Thailand people riding the wrong way.

Year by year, Thais are killed on the roads with an average of around 12,000 persons per year or about 2 persons per hour. In other words, every day, approximately 50 Thai people who leave home for work, school, shopping, temple/church/mosque, social gathering never return home because of road accidents....

An all too common report.

RIP the 18 year old lad. And condolences to his family who must be devistated.

And we don't hear of the outcomes of the  "severe injuries" to the other - which can be life-changing.

Hard to read but true.

Sadly, those numbers are way too low.

12,304 was the number that was published in Thailand for 2019. That report said that the real number is higher.

Thailand only admits to a road death if the poor victim dies at the scene of the accident.

If the person dies in the ambulance, at the hospital or any where else, then that is not counted as a road death.

The WHO reckons at least 20,000 'official' road deaths each year. For 2018 the reported number was 22,543

so sad loss of life . but driving the wrong way is so common in thailand so stupid ,never change ???

Pathetic comment based on nothing at all other than your imagination. If you have nothing useful to say, why say anything at all. That way you don't look stupid.

Tomorrow a nephew will pick up the ashes of his brother in Suvarnabhumi from Korea. Guess what happened to him...

Those are the two most common causes of accidents though Barry.

On the Thai news during midday which they show and talk about the accidents in Thai. Not sure if he was booze but for certain based on the CCTV, the driver going the wrong way was far exceeding the speed limit from the video it seem the rider never slow down never try to avoid just ram right into the other rider!

The sad part the announcer daily report accidents but their explanations just show the population has no clue as to why they are 2nd in the world for the most accidents which 85% are motorbikes.

Driving fast,             i bet.

Driving wrong way, i bet.

Drunk,                       i bet.

No crash helmet     i bet.

No care                    i bet.

TIT,
