If you were worried that COVID-19 restrictions may scupper your New Year’s Eve celebrations, Thailand’s COVID task force has announced some good news.

On Monday, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that restaurants and eateries nationwide (or more accurately venues with a license to serve food) can serve alcohol on New Year’s Eve until 1am on Jan 1st.

This means that restaurants or hotels could hold New Year’sxx Eve parties with alcohol providing the venues meet the necessary requirements as part of the maintaining a COVID free setting.

One night only...

So it's safe to drink on the 31st December, but not on 30th December or 1st January. Glad they've told us.

Somebody needs to tell Delta and Omicron.

Wow, 3 whole extra hours, on one evening.

So is that scary ?  Is it money vs safety ?  Await news of super spreaders or just another day.

More like the latter, just another day, simply restaurants open 3 hours longer.  Since most people show up later in the evening for such an event, actual 'in restaurant' time may be shorter, same, or longer.

Those that will attend such an 'event', are living that lifestyle already, just earlier in the evening or afternoon and assessed their risk factor, and obviously comfortable with it.

Those thinking it's fool's folly ... attendance is voluntary, and simply continue doing what has kept you safe already.  This isn't rocket science.  Not even fear monging, just a notice what is available.

Surely the 'experts' will chime in with their divisive comments.

Yay, my old friend and his son can go out on New Years eve with a friend or 2

and celebrate. Good Luck to all in 2022, may it be the year of recovery.
