A younger brother was stabbed in Singburi because he refused give 35 baht in change.

That's a little over ONE US dollar.

Prasit, 62, had given Somyot, 52, 100 baht to buy some alcohol that cost 65 baht.

When he didn't give the change an argument ensued and Prasit stabbed his younger brother in the heart.

Inburi police headed by Capt Sutchart Yotdamnern found the assailant sitting disconsolately with the knife while relatives had a go at him, reported Daily News

He was taken away for prosecution.

Middle sister Somjit, 59, told the police what had transpired.

The picture, is it of the incident location?

I think 2 coppers on the left are thinking, what the <deleted> are you 2 (coppers on the right) doing here, with your noses stuck in your phones.

I count a captain, half colonel, colonel and general. Where are the policemen?

Bet it was white spirit (lao khao) and probably not the first bottle of the day.

(the article uses the formal word for alcohol "sura")

Brainless from years of drinking.

Beer too expensive for heavy peasant drinkers.

It's interesting that here in our village the number of brain damaged drinkers seems to have decreased significantly. One younger guy drank himself to death.

When you raise a child without dicipline,  and allow them to think everything should be their way, and your culture  has no manners. and values are skewed, this sad situation  happens.   This is terrible, and sad on so many levels.  Prayers  for the family.

These were two old men, 62 and 52.

I think they were both just raging alcoholics.

If they were still young i might agree with you but at 62 he should have learnt a bit of self discipline by now.

Since when did Thai culture have no manners?

They be different fromand slightly more complex than your "western " standards, and perhaps nuanced in ways you do not completely understand.

However it appears this incident is due to alcohol overindulgence and extreme poverty.

They were older adults, and parents blaming is unnecessary.

Yeah! You're correct.  They pick their nose in public, chew with mouths open, pick at their feet in public, raise their tone when they dont understand, dont wash up before eating, and the list goes on and on.  It certainly  a different  culture,  as Asians and face are a tough concept.

Having been around for some time, it appears that you associate with a differnt group of Thai than I do, and not seen similar as described very often in many other cultures either.

However manners and murder are very differnent behaviours

You can assume that I certainly observe  who and what is serving  and served.  Many people actually get stomach  issues here, could be tge ice, could be the lack of hygiene in their service
