Buy rapid ATK kit in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to purchase self-administered rapid covid tests in Bangkok?  Found a reference online that government pharmacies have them but wondering if they are more widely available and where.  Thanks.

Pretty much every pharmacy. Independent or large chains, Boots, Watsons etc.

If available in Thailand, buy "Roche SRAS-Cov-2 Rapid Antigen Test".

After having used thousands of ATK tests of different brands I can say, they are a bit  less inaccurate than many others on the market.

Since you have a lot of experience with the ATK kits, how successful are they in detecting the omicron variant? Apparently the antigen test is less sensitive than the RT-PCR test, but omicron is said to have a large viral load in the upper respiratory tract. Thanks for any information.

I have no experience with ATK related to Omicron yet. I left Germany before it came up. Near future will show.

I found VTRUST which is a nasal swab kit.  Are there any brands that are specifically saliva/throat swabs?

Reason I ask is I have minor cold/covid like symptoms and recently arrived here.  Negative PCR test although I was not impressed that the tester only did one nostril and not very deep.  Used a VTRUST and also got a negative.  But some medical professionals are of the opinion now that nose swabs don't detect omicron variant as well as saliva/throat swabs.  Some recommend using a self test to swab the throat instead of the nose - this seems less than ideal if not recommended by the manufacturer but I may try it with a VTRUST if I can't find a saliva test.  Isolating now just in case.

They're only 55 baht at Mr DIY!

They are available at most Pharmacies . Have gotten them at Facino in Pattaya and at local Pattaya pharmacies.

Any pharmacy, 7-Eleven, Mini BigC and Family Mart has it, where I live. Prices from 100 baht to 150 baht.

Google wants me to spell SRAS differently.
