Toyota Vigo evaporator fix, is it really so difficult ? Anybody tried the Leak Fix spray ? It seems to work sometimes ?

Featured Replies

Evaps are nearly always awkward to access and involves a fair bit of dismantling.

Forget quick-fix sprays and additives - will only cause further problems in the long run.

Did you ever get this fixed?

Not yet, it's not our main car, so it can wait, and I am still looking for someone with knowledge who could have something smart to tell.

Few video from individuals telling that it worked for them

When you have it recharged, how long does it last?

How do you know it's the evaporator?

It is a big job to change them on most vehicles, as often most of the dash needs to be removed. Toyota should be able to give you a quote for parts and labor, if you can't save 50% going with someone else that's using aftermarket parts, or 25% using OEM parts, I'd go with them.

if it's really leaking, running it dry would kill the compressor,

Yes.

We get a lot of vehicles into the workshop for AC work.  We have a Bosch automatic recovery and refill machine for regassing and repair of minor leaks. Anything more and it goes out to our AC specialists.  Replacement of an evap seldom comes in at less than 1000GBP !

Yes in Thailand the labour rates are somewhat lower than the UK!

impossible. 6000 is only what it costs as labor.

You didn't change the evaporator, sorry that you didn't even know.
