What is the purpose of having to be in a hotel (other than money).....it just increases the chance of the infection spreading when I could be at home.

True, but it would be very different for a tourist.

'If' I go back to uk for a fortnight I'd be happy to home isolate for a week on return.

When will the next worldwide variant panic circus kick in? Maybe not until well into February. That would yield a quarantine-free window of a few weeks at best.

Along with the bank they’re making, this policy of testing visitors to death (yet hardly testing domestically), then allowing them to roam to pick up the infection locally skews the percentages. Ergo, it’s the bad guy foreigners see! Call me a cynic, but…

Who is it that's stupid  that you want to laugh at as it's not clear? Is it the government for putting these regulations in place or those who have to abide by them as they have little choice. That's mainly the case with with those who live in Thailand and there may be as many or more of them than tourists.

I'm in Mahasarakham so I've got a similar situation. I think there may be a hotel in Buriram that I could use. No surprise there.

 

I'm not sure why if you've already been moving about you can't just have a test without staying in a hotel apart from money of course.

You just know that come 10th February there is going to be a whole host of stories and posts on here about catching covid whilst out in the general populace for 4 days between first and second test !

 

I'll stick with my 7 days hotel AQ. Chances of catching covid between 1st and 2nd test in AQ hotel is pretty remote compared to mixing with the 142th per million ranked untested thais. Don't mind sacrificing a few days as  I should be in country for minimum 14 months

Actually they cover that too.As long as i test negative in my country before leaving they pay all expencives if i get covid during the stay in thailand.The same they covered the family from norway who tested positive after arrived bangkok.

I don't think real tourists are going to come given the changing policies and fickle-mindedness of the policy makers.

This is more than crazy!! I am going to UK in June and returning end of July and live in Bang Saphan Noi. So unless this changes, again, I will have to stay in Bangkok for the duration???

Test and Go I do not think so. Another complete and utter farce from them that do not have a clue!!!

test and go x2 for those who are vaxed at the moment what you do in the 5 days in between is a from of restriction or could land you in 10 isolation.

Chances you could be infected by the many untested free to cross border or local transmission is sandbox safer to avoid threat of isolation

Some do have reasons to return to uk etc, work or family reasons. They are unfortunately caught up in the situation.

This is seriously so completely out of proportions that it is almost unreal... I have not been able to return to my house for over 2 years which is up in north rural Thailand in the middle of nowhere because of these complete bonkers laws!!!
For us who work 4 weeks and have 4 weeks of going to Thailand with this system is just way too much hassle and expensive... I would have used more days in quarentine then in my house and now they expect that people again on day 5 need to go into a hotel for that test...  What a piece og shambles and they should be ashamed of themselves who come up with this!!!! ????

as you mentioned anyone who tests positive on day 5 may well have caught Covid in country… 

 

The day 5 test protects no one - it’s utterly senseless unless arrival quarantine itself is 6 days.

How many tourists are coming to Thailand while there is 50,000 USD insurance requirement & risk of a 2 week hospital isolation which the insurance may refuse to cover ????

When I saw that test and go was returning I was going to book flights back to stay a couple of weeks at Easter/Songkran, just hoping that the rules don't change again.

 

The day five nonsense has put me off doing this. I wonder how many other potential visitors they'll lose due to this ridiculous rule?
