Strange construction off Nual Beach on Ko Larn

Featured Replies

Anybody know what this concrete structure is just off Nual Beach on Ko Larn? It is an old structure with a fairly complicated design ie. not just a flat surface.

The US army built pontoons & bunkers on the islands during the war with Vietnam.

The top brass used stay out there & girls were shipped out to them as they didn't want the lower ranks seeing how they were enjoying their r&r.

Also high level meetings were held out there as it was seen as secure place.

There must be one or two US veterans on here who might be able to shed more light on the subject

How do you know this? Why would they build such a structure in open view instead of just having a house hidden by trees on the hill? It doesn't make any sense.

without a better quality picture showing some detail then it's hard to tell but the higher ups did indeed us those islands & the Thai navy do now, a few are completely off limits.

A more detailed photo could only be useful for deduction. But how you deduce that it could have been used for some sort of brothel, I have no idea.

It's right on the edge of the deep area of the sea so it may be a kind of wharf or landing area for larger fishing boats but why the square holes? To the left you can see a line which was made of rocks and looked like it may have been an artificial harbour with a walkway on top leading to this structure but it veers away from it and does not reach it.

No, don't say that! You'll have the PM out there waving his wallet around trying to buy it, lol!

On second thoughts, it's one of those famous Thai "hubs". What's hubbing here, I have no idea. Maybe it's the start of the bridge hub across the Gulf?
