Its a risk that you took, I wouldn't have taken that risk myself

it didn’t take long… for the victim blaming to start.      She hadn’t entered the house, she was sat in the garden waiting.    The owner hadn’t restrained their dangerous dog….

Then you don't know dogs, and therefore you were right in your decision.

Owners of any kind of dogs are responsible for their  behaviour

If attacking people dog should be put down unless people trespassing

On private property

A sign should be put up Warning people in the case of Pitbull terriers should be placed at the entrance just looking at these dogs would scare me off

The first person ever to receive a  'face transplant' was a French woman. and the dog that caused the injury was her own, yes you guessed it, Golden Labrador.

Dog breads, like humans, can have the odd fruitcake, or can be trained to attack.  ????

You obviously are out of your depth on this thread. Pit Bulls aren't terriers.

Any dog can suddenly turn and attack , and if your Pitbull turns and attacks, it could kill a child and even an adult .

Numerous news reports of family dogs attacking people with the usual "Hes never usually aggressive "

They have a dog that is known to be protective an attack any one who enters the property who doesn't live there .

Didn't any of them think of the consequences ?

Bold of you to presume there was any actual thinking between any of them

Kill the dog, and sue the <deleted> having a filthy dog like that.

The fact that this dog was kept in a cage says it all.

Scum dogs owned by scum people.

No. I have 3 children. The girl on the left isn't mine. But over the years they've had their friends around and never have I or my wife had concerns for their safety. Just cuz it's a Pit Bull doesn't mean it's aggressive.

Again... lovely - and its probably a beautifully natured dog.....

.... until it isn’t....

The only dog owners I’ve ever trusted are the ones who say.... ‘Its never bitten anyone yet, but its still a dog’...

And the ones I don’t trust...”oh... it’s harmless, it’d lick you do death’ !!

Ivor - please never ever leave your kids alone with your dog....

Here's my Pit Bull. Great 'ratter'.

Very cute. Similar colour and markings to mine.

Ours is super friendly but I still make sure he's on the lead until strangers have been properly introduced and he knows they're 'with us'. After that, he just wants to play with them but of course you have to be responsible with any breed, especially large or strong ones.

We had a few issues with a couple of local teenage boys creeping around our farm at night when I was away working in Bangkok so I feel a lot safer now they know he's inside the house and very protective of my girlfriend. They're not too keen on him so his presence has proved to be enough.

He's also good for catching pigeons, mice, snakes, Tookaes, JinJok's etc.

Of course not, because he's also scared of wheels, buggies, being in confined spaces, people he doesn't know and shops!

The owner should be jailed just like he did the attack himself.  Too many want dogs like this to show how strong they are.  Sadly, very few know how to properly handle them.  Very few.

Some dogs should not breed like this one and some owners should not breed like this one.

Hasn't attacked anyone yet, but what proof do you have that will not happen in the future. Pit Bulls were not breed to be a child's pet.

According to a data by dogsbite.org, in the 13-year period of 2005 to 2017, canines killed 433 Americans. Pit bulls contributed to 66% (284) of these deaths.

Rottweilers, over the 13-year period, inflicted 10% (45) of attacks resulting in death, according to data by dogsbite.org.

Never a truer word spoken about owning dogs just for the status. I've seen it too much, both here and where I originate from. Very few understand even the basics on how to control a naturally territorial animal. Although my dog is neither aggressive and has zero bite history (nor is he a pittie), he has territorial tendencies and will bark at anyone approaching the house he doesn't know. I've had these signs on the gate (or variants of them) for the last 5 years to warn people that ignore the warning the dog is giving them. Works well.

Playful dog is deliberate.

But we still have victim blamers who will blame the injured party for entering her brothers garden when she knew that there is a dog present....  or did she know ?

Its all irrelevant whether the sister knew that a dog was present, this could have been a postman, delivery guy, a kid getting a ball etc etc....  A dog who can attack so readily is dangerous to everyone in the neighbourhood.

The owners should be penalised of course, its is their fault that the dog was either poorly trained, or trained to attack....  but sadly, that dog will attack again if it's not dealt with.

I disagree with some of your comments, I have kept Jack Russell Terriers for more years than I can remember both in Australia and here.

I currently have four and anyone known to them including children can enter our walled and gated house and land without a problem.

There have a protective instinct and if anyone not known to them tries to enter when we are not here they will have a problem.

Titan is just over a year old, reported Daily News

Certainly should not be permitted to reach 2!

Titian has to be put down straight away and the owner made to pay for the woman's injuries with a hefty fine of around 500.000b

You may or may not have a biggun, however you do have a big strong dog.
He looks awesome and I bet his love is immeasurable.
A dog of this size and strength can cause life changing disfiguring injuries to a child’s face ( hands, legs etc) in a split second, particularly if they were suddenly startled by perhaps a child slipping and landing on him while he slept. We’ve all read and continue to read stories about how trusted dogs attacked seemingly out of character.
I sincerely hope this never happens with your lovely dog, but consider this, if it were to happen and your dog attacked someone they,  (assuming they were not killed) you and others would have to live with the consequences for the rest of your lives constantly being reminded.
This isn’t aimed at you in particular it  is aimed at all the dog owners who think it will never happen to them with such certainty that they take their eye off the ball.

Mail goes into the mail box with other deliveries they always call first if not home left with a relative close by.

Works fine.
