Cambodia expects tourism to recover this year. After severe stagnation from Covid-19

On Tuesday (Feb. 1), the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia The country's tourism industry is expected to recover in 2022 after a significant stagnation over the past two years due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

 

The report said Cambodia welcomed 1.3 million foreign tourists in 2020, a decline of 80 percent from 2019 before a further decline of 85 percent to 196,495 in 2021.

Kong Sophierek, Director of Statistics and Planning Under the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, interviewed with Xinhua news agency that

“We expect the number of foreign tourists to start to recover from this year. After opening the country to receive travelers who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 complete dose again"

"With the quarantine exemption policy We are confident that tourists will see Cambodia as their primary destination for leisure. And we hope to attract five hundred thousand foreign tourists this year,” Gong added.

 

Cambodia has three famous World Heritage Sites: Angkor Archaeological Park. Preah Vihear Temple and Prasat Sombor Prei Kuk There is also a natural coastline stretching 450 kilometers through four provinces in the southwest.

Xinhua news agency reported that Cambodia has opened the country to welcome travelers who have received full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since November last year. After most of the population in the country has been vaccinated.
