Thailand’s Royal Gazette yesterday, February 3rd, announced the establishment of a ‘Casino Committee’ to study and consider the potential opening of a legalized gambling entertainment complex to solve illegal gambling problems and boost the domestic economy.

A total of 60 people were listed as committee members in the announcement, including Thai Civilized Party leader Mongkolkit Suksintharanon who had constantly proposed for legal casinos and sex workers.

The committee would study the legal measures and the collection of income and taxes from the casino businesses to prevent and solve illegal gambling and online gambling problems.

Sorry HBH,  you are so wrong on this one, I honestly thought that there would be casino's here a long time ago, but it won't be long now, hope you are ready to swallow your pride.

What's changed that you'd expect casino's to appear here now and it's not happened so far?

The invasion on Chinese ( pre-covid )? or?

"After being published in the official Royal Gazette, the regulation will enter into force after 120 days."

Once the law is approved, the king will sign it, and the changes will enter into force around April 2022."

So when a Chinese junket tour of high rollers get flown into Australia on a private jet, for free, you think all the brothels in your Australian city make more money than the "whales" lose in money.

It's millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars, and that's just the high roller room, not to mention the many more tables down stairs where regular gamblers play.

Lady Drinks and Bar Fines, and some fool ringing a bell here, are no match for gambling, especially Chinese gamblers who are looking to get their money out of China.

Why would you think it will stay the same forever?

Instead of repelling gambling revenue, they can embrace it and profit from it.

Because they are broke.  Thailand is broke.

Now's the best time to sell it, and it's not a hard sell, to the Thai people.

You should never answer a question with a question.

The OP has probably  lurked on this  forum  using one use name but been active using another name. Note his confusion about one well known  contributor who virtually denied all knowledge..

Nope..this is a dodgy, possibly  manipulative submission...flattering those who are susceptible  to flattery.

Sure, you can do what you want. Whether you get banged up or not is another thing.

Wouldn't surprise me if it did happen. Good or no, that's the thing with autocrats; they make stuff happen.
