Pedestrian crossings located outside of all municipal schools in Hua Hin will get a makeover in the coming weeks in an effort to boost road safety.

On Tuesday (Feb 8th) officials oversaw the first of the pedestrian crossings to be upgraded.

The crossing, located outside Khao Phithak School in central Hua Hin, has been painted red and white in order to make it more visible for drivers and pedestrians.

Officials including Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul were on hand to inspect the new upgraded crossing.

I noticed how bad one of the local 'zebra' has lost its stripes, almost all, as fairly non existent.

I tooted the MB horn yesterday to let 2 gals know I was 'coming thru' ... ????

Lead gal stopped her almost non existent forward movement, looked at me, as what I wanted.  Since the E-motorcycle makes virtually no noise.  Other gal, stationary in the street, taking photos, surfside area.

Lead gal had big smile & chucked, since dog in front basket, and nodded, thankfully that I tooted.  Realizing she was being a bit of an airhead.

Just as I passed them, it hit me ... damn, I just failed to yield for pedestrian in the crosswalk ... ????

Though at their speed, don't think that would be considered, walking across the street, as they were more like, playing tourist in the street.  Also when I took notice in the mirror, how little 'zebra' was left.

Thailand does have a horrendous pedestrian death count, almost daily.  Noticed 6 the other day, 4 a day or so before that, on a twitter account that tracks such things.

I picked my son up from school this lunch time I have to go past several other schools on the way home. Most of them have a 50kph limit sign, a solid yellow line painted on the road and rumble strips as well. I slowed down as I always do and the idiot in the Honda Civic behind me almost chewed my rear bumper off, and as soon as he car coming the other way went past, he indicated and overtook right on the crossing. Fortunately there were no children outside on the crossing as he would either hit them or me.
