Man Swallows 100 Meth Pills to Evade Arrest – Ends Up in Hospital
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A 40-year-old man is in hospital after reportedly swallowing around 100 methamphetamine pills in a desperate attempt to evade arrest. The dramatic incident unfolded in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan province, when local police spotted the man acting suspiciously in a sedan parked at the roadside. The officers, Sergeant Major Papawin Tamueang and Sergeant Major Siriwit Dettawee-Chot, were on routine patrol along Suvarnabhumi Road 3 when they noticed the vehicle. As they approached, the driver suddenly sped away, prompting a police pursuit through the area. The chase continued until the vehicle was cornered near the entrance of Soi Manthana on outbound Theparak Road at kilometre marker 17. Trapped by traffic ahead, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, opening the left-side door and bolting from the vehicle. However, officers quickly apprehended him. In a shocking turn of events, as police were making the arrest, the man, later identified as Mr Metha, aged 40, grabbed a bundle of over 100 methamphetamine pills and began frantically chewing and swallowing them. Despite police shouting for him to spit out the pills, fearing he might overdose, Mr Metha continued to ingest them. Moments later, he began showing signs of severe distress, including cold sweats and signs of shock. Emergency medical services were immediately called to the scene. Mr Metha was rushed to Bang Sao Thong Hospital, where he remains under police custody and medical supervision. He now faces further legal proceedings related to drug possession and resisting arrest. According to police records, Mr Metha has a history of drug-related offences, having been prosecuted on four previous occasions. Sergeant Major Papawin Tamueang stated, “When we approached the car, the suspect suddenly drove off. Once cornered, he tried to dispose of the drugs by swallowing them, likely in a panic. Fortunately, we were able to get him medical help in time.” Authorities are continuing their investigation. -- 2025-04-17 -
