A fire erupted on Sunday at a luxury resort on Koh Kut, off the coast of Thailand’s Trat province, with celebrities recounting their experience of having their narrow escapes and questioning why such an expensive resort did not have smoke detection, fire alarm or sprinkler system.

Dr. Jiraporn Arunakul, a famous pediatrian at Ramathibodi Hospital, who runs a Facebook page @takekidswithus, decided to relate the story of her unexpected close call in the devastating fire at the resort where she and her family were holidaying during the weekend.

The fire broke out at about 6am yesterday morning and the villa where the doctor’s group of 15 were staying for just one night was completely burned down.

I bet they had an updated insurance policy though.

Because that all costs extra money, duh!

Its simpler than that....   they don’t have the ‘detection and sprinkler system’s because they don’t need to.

The owners are not held responsible If / when something happens.

In this case the predicable answers were given... ‘there were smoke alarms’ which of course burned, so no evidence (hotel lied).

IF there were smoke alarms they would have gone off.

IF there were smoke alarms and the didn’t go off, the owner is responsible for failure to maintain the safety of their property.

Of course, no one will face any charges for the damage caused to a family why staying at the hotel, after all, people will feel sorry for them, they lost their property in the fire.

----------

Which also lends to the question - how many of us / you have smoke alarms in your house ?

We have in our living room, Sons Bedroom and our Bedroom.

I notice one of friends (Western) has the same.

Glorified bamboo huts, not really surprising!!

With stupid people who think they are better then others paying stupid prices to stay there they now want the headlines. Having said that this doctor could face a defamation law suit if indeed a fire detection system was installed together with a fire suppression system. Perhaps  the FD system may have suffered a mal function due to the ingress of ants.

What is this resort name or that would be a candidate of defamation?

For reference:-

"The resort, called “Soneva Kiri” said in the statement that the fire began in Villa 63 and all guests were evacuated safely"

So as I mentioned earlier perhaps that doctor will now get sued for claiming no fire detectors were installed. Perhaps that "has-been" actress was hoping that by getting in on the act she would perhaps get a voice over part in a dog food advert.

And after making a claim with their insurance company, they detected that they only had 18 Villas....555
