I think you are being somewhat disingenuous or perhaps missing the point that most people are wanting to know how someone can start such a business on such a low Policeman's salary?

It would be difficult enough to open and run a successful small-scale Thai food restaurant business on such a salary, for example.

Most farnag haven't  a clue as to how much police officers need to secure their position. For ranks over Police Major, พ.ต.ต, it is it the tens of millions, rising to 100's for the upper positions..

All the senior police i know come from extremely wealthy families.

I'm sure you know how police earn much more than their official salary.

Nothing to be proud of for sure.

It's no wonder the Police are feared and distrusted by local Thais, and condemned as an organised criminal organisation by some international bodies.

Not just the police. Just recently the director at my daughter's old school was up in court for allegedly paying 50 million for his position. He was acquitted but the 12 guys in the MoE were jailed for accepting it!

It is what it is, accept it or become an old, disgruntled, Thai-bashing moaner ????

No country is perfect, but Thailand is closer than most, IMHO.

Airbags only deploy if the frontal impact is high enough. Heavy car hitting light motorcycle obviously didn't generate sufficient 'G' force.

Look at the pic.

Yes, I looked at the pic and what I saw was very light damage to the bonnet/hood. That would not be sufficient to trigger the airbags. That was only a glancing blow, not frontal impact.

I would be very ashamed of my country if it was run like that. Now I understand better why Thailand is in such a bad way.

Yes, I've seen that one as well and as I've already said earlier, that is not a frontal impact that would trigger the airbags. The impact needs to be on the front within the crumple zone. That's where the sensors are installed.

I see the Porsche driver is 'fessing up that he made a lane change in a careless manner........I can't see for the life of me how that explains the windscreen damage that indicates the victim nearly went through it.

something like that, perhaps more upwards and then falling back into the car. It does involve some substantial speeding, because one has to subtract the speed the bike was travelling at from that of the car.

The air bage system is set to deploy at around 30 miles per hour hitting a solid object.  Meaning a force at that speed coming to a dead stop. If the object being hit  is much lighter and pushed out of the way the impact force would be much less. Not deploying the air bags.

That is irresponsibly BAD advice to give to anybody. Driving a modern car that has airbags without wearing seatbelts is potentially very dangerous in the event of a frontal collision.

As the unrestrained driver flies forward, the airbag explodes out of the steering wheel with the force of a 12 bore shotgun. It can cause severe chest trauma which can be fatal.

Wise up. ALWAYS fasten your seatbelt.

Look up sarcasm.????

Not the way he is portraying it as no more than a careless lane change...no.

The victim would have had to have been sat still in the road and still be hit at speed to cause that damage.....can't see it myself.

Yeah glass breaks when a body hits it....

or are you talking about the minor damage to the bumper from the initial impact ?

No....the huge dent in the windscreen.

The victim must have been almost still and still hit at speed from behind......that is not a lane change

Yeah something the size and weight of a man hitting a thin glass windscreen will do that king of damage.

Wouldn't argue with that.........but how does that happen during a 'change of lanes'?

It suggests a big difference in speed between the car and the bike.

Also, supercars like The Taycan save weight by fitting thinner glass than your average saloon. The body is all carbon fibre and composites too.

Not to defend the rich kid, but if having the means, who would not do everything and anything, to keep their kid out of prison, especially a Thai prison ?

Sending your kid to prison, takes a special kind of hate.

You beat me to it. People drone on and on about the lack of justice, and they'd be correct. . . but there is not a single parent here that wouldn't do anything in their power to keep their kids out of prison, me included. . . although I hope I'm raising my kids in a way that reduces their chances of making bad decisions.

Is guzzling electricity to charge the batteries not fuel? since there is gas or coal fired generated energy to be produced to charge the batteries to run these EV cars.

I reckon it'll take a couple of days of Pae being in hospital before they're able to conduct that alcohol test, so he'll be clear.

As for the poor motorcyclist, well with a name like that he'd be considered a lower-class citizen by the racist locals, so let's also just say he was drunk and riding dangerously and not wearing a seatbelt on his unregistered bike that had a malfunctioning airbag and he was on overstay... it's called 'deflection' and the Thais are experts at it!

I think you'll find that Thailand now has the technology to do an alcohol test from a blood sample.
