It was role reversal time yesterday at the Khon Kaen International Convention Center when a Thai bride paid the dowry.

 

Pitchaya Phanoomai or Bailew and Panupol Thepjanrak or Micky, both 33, were tying the knot.

 

But instead of the groom fronting up all the dowry it was the bride who paid 12 million baht.

 

There was 2 million in cash, 500,000 in jewelry, a land title deed worth 5 million and a 7 million baht house and land for the couple to live in, reported Thai Rath.

 

In addition Micky got a BMW Series 3 car worth 2.8 million.

Bailew explained that Micky had been lovely to her for years catering to her every whim.

 

She said that her family is well off with lots of business interests including a restaurant in Khon Kaen that is in Thailand's NE region. 

 

Now it was payback time and her relatives agreed to the arrangement as they were very much in love.

Micky, not surprisingly, said he was delighted. 

 

The couple received guests with all the usual trappings of a Thai engagement yesterday though the roles were reversed.

 

In the evening a big slap up feast and wedding ceremony was planned with many guests from both the bride and groom's family.

I hope he hasn't got the full role reversal with hoards of parasitic relatives begging for money at every turn, calling him and his spouse when they don't give or fail to give enough.

What a shame they or the guests won't be allowed to have a drink during their celebrations!
