But it's not a war.

It's a "Special Operation".

How's that for your "first victim"?

Ukraine has not declared war with Russia officially. Why? Because Europe wouldn’t let Ukraine declare the state of war. Why? Because Russia would then stop pumping gas to Europe through the Ukrainian pipeline and European economy would get very ugly in few short days rather than weeks. So yeah, it’s a special operation. Doesn’t matter what media calls it in the west to keep audiences hooked.

Why hold a press conference if it's only going to be one sided....

Isn't that the case in most press conferences?

If the press conference is for Thai media why do they need to allow foreign media?

Foreign media BASED in Thailand? That’s who it says it is for.

This begs the question: who now would vacation in Russia—besides Chinese communists, North Koreans, Iranians and North Yemenis?

Eritreans? ????????

And the 1% are no longer with us?

More like 99.99% of russians put a tick where they were order to and also afraid to not put a tick in the ordered box.

Will Ukrainian reporters be allowed in?

Yes, but they will be dismembered with a bone saw in front of the hidden microphones like Khasoggi was in the Saudi Istanbul consulate.

Thai media should boycott this until such a time as they open it up to all media....... bowing to their 'we rule the world' attitude does nobody any favours.

Good point, any Thai reporters present will just post whatever is said / whatever is written on any press handout.

Exactly,  and all articles will be handed over to the Russian embassy for "spell check" before being published.

Foreign media BASED in Thailand  is here to cover Thailand, not Russia.

PS: it does not say "Foreign media BASED in Thailand " it says "press conference for Thai-based media "

Will they be allowed to ask questions ? Alcohol sprays at the ready.

Who finances  all of the none tax paying expensive Russian Churches in Thailand ?, would be my first Question, and can we see the Audits and money trails of where the money came from ?

Well they aren't getting as much opportunity in Russia as they might wish. Posting what Russia has to say wherever is a global interest.... Even USA press briefings allow foreign reporters.

Well according to this the Russians said it was because if covid measures..................????

No foreign journalists were invited to the press conference by the Russian Ambassador today. Amb Tomikhin said there weren't enough space, especially considering #COVID19 measures.

We all know of course that western based media would actually ask questions rather than listen to a tirade of nonsense and propoganda

the west seems be doing the same thing recently ????

they banned all Russian financed press corps, just in case they offer a different view or evidence of west propaganda ????

the first victim of war is truth, in particular in the west

Why would a Russian press outlet offer any view that was anything other than the Kremlin's or Putin's? They are under threat of arrest, or death. Do you really even consider the possibility that there is anything even bordering on free press in Russia? Ever, much less at this time? Really? Why allow a Kremlin party organ, specifically designed for disinformation, into the room?

Are you being deliberately obtuse. The request was for examples of where Russian journalists have been banned from press conferences. Since when have the BBC, CNN and Guardian been examples of Russian journalists?

I’d quit while you are behind if I was you.

You all might want to frame this any way you want and set up a straw man argument but I will not bite.

The Russians have not banned western journalists. They have not invited  them to this one .

Western countries have done similar. Nothing new here.

This is a function designed for Thai based news outlets

There is a big difference between "Thai based news outlets" and Foreign news outlet with reporters in Thailand. . For instance , the New York times night have an office in Thailand, and it might have reporters there, but in no way shape or form is it a Thai based news outlet.    am sorry you cant see the distinction.

The Russian Embassy is a sovereign entity and can invite anyone it wants to it's functions.

I am done beating this dead horse.

I do agree with you. It's a "special press conference".

Of course the Russians can invite anyone or not invite people they don't like. And any press outlet can call them out on it.

The best thing to do would be to reinforce its "specialness" by having no one at all attend.

I believe the Russians won’t allow foreign-based journalists into the presser—because it’s really just a rehearsal.  They have to get their act down cold—before the final performance.

what sort of 'news' will they be giving?

Just catch any Tucker Carlson show. That's the current Russian narrative. There was even a memo circulating in the Russian propaganda machine ordering them to play as much of Tucker as possible.

not saying it didn't happen but without links...

have you paid attention recently to BBC etc...? Russia Today banned from the US, UK and the rest of Europe. Another news org from Russia, can't remember the name, also banned.

The west is following the playbook of the Pravda ????
