Will Smith punches Chris Rock at Oscars

And gets rewarded with the best actor Oscar.  A great example to those watching.

 

Should the Oscar be taken away? Should he be arrested for assault?

Did he punch him or slap him.....it looked quite violent (if it wasn't all staged).....I imagine a punch would have laid him out cold???

 

Looking a Smith's face afterwards that anger looked real......but he is an actor I guess.

Who cares, the Oscars are awards made by the pretentious for the pretentious. As you say they are all actors so sincerity is something they would feign anyway.

Wow, he was not kidding.  If Chris Smith was actually slapped or punched if could be an Assault and Battery under California Penal Code Sections 240 and 242.  In the end he won Best Actor.

That was flatout assault.  I like both dudes, but what Will Smith did was totally uncool.  Not only can Chris Rock pursue criminal charges, but he could sue the pants off Will Smith.

Was it assault, yes ! Was it warranted Yes ! I dont care who you are or what the occasion, you run your mouth and insult someones wife, there will be consequences. Add to that rhe difficult relationship issues they have had recently its no wonder he jumped to her defence so publicly.

Looks like a classic case of workplace violence to me. Let us see if this man of the left at a gathering of the elite left will be held responsible under the law, or if we will be treated to more double standards. That he wasn't immediately kicked out and even was awarded some oscar suggests the latter. No surprise.

I watched it over and over trying to see if it was a fake film stunt. Needs to be slowed down and zoomed. Still can't be sure if it really was an assault though there was clearly some noise.

There appears to be a pretty serious back story...

 

The GI Jane 2 joke was a reference to Jada Pinket's bald head, shaved due to a recent diagnosis of alopecia. So Chris Rock was joking about Will Smith's wife's medical condition, which does make it a little more understandable why he over-reacted. He did tearfully apologize during his acceptance speech. Still, a disappointing display of poor behavior, which sadly feeds unfair stereotypes about black men. I prefer to focus on the Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmation hearings which should be a source of pride and hope for all Americans.
