As the grandkids would say, "That's sick!." My mate used to have a suped up Cooper S and (to me) that was frightning, going round real sharp bends and the brick just hung onto the road like glue.

Yeah, my Uncle Phil (Mums brother) had a white Cooper S (black roof of course) which cornered like it was on rails. Enormous fun to ride with him (I was way too young to drive).

Might have 300 horses but can it use them?

 

It looks like it'd just spin those tiny wheels.

Remember those horses are Tesla horses with some very smart electronics, traction control is your friend.

 

0-60 measured at 5.9 seconds, pretty satisfactory on those teeny wheels.

 

Got a Classic Mini? - How about a bolt-in conversion kit!!

680kg and 300hp. 0 to 60 in 5.9.

 

My car is 1700kg, 385 hp and gets there in 4.7 seconds. Another set of wheels we have is 382hp, 1300kg and gets there in 3.9secs

 

Like I said, those horses aren't being used.

Yeah, a fair amount of compromise to keep the beast as close to the original as possible.

Are your cars doing that on the underpinnings of a 67 Mini on ten inch wheels and tyres?  Like I said, watch the video and listen to what is said.

Even on it's orginal 34hp (850cc, the 1071cc Cooper S had about 70GGs) the mini was enormous fun to drive (slowing down for corners, optional!), so in "road mode" (100hp) it should be about 3 times as much fun.

 

The whole point of this conversion is that it's sheer fun!

 

Got my first speeding ticket driving a cooper.

 

It was a class mates at Tafe and he let me drive it when we went for lunch.

 

His dad was a Pom and a cooper enthusiast.  Had three or four of them I recall.

The car doesn't have the weight or grip to use anything close to 300 horses.

 

Lots of these souped up cars with huge bhp numbers on a dynamic cannot put those horses to use on a real road.

And yet many have no issue running 8's & 9's @ 160+ over the 1/4.

I started this thread as a bit of fun, which is exactly why the chap who built this car did it.

 

He knew full well that the 10" wheels and tyres stood no chance of handling all those horses even with the smarts of the Tesla control gear.

 

You know how much that mattered? Not at all!

 

Since we seem to have degenerated into bickering this thread is now locked!

 

Sorry to those who genuinely interested in just what you can do with a 60s chassis and 20s tech.
