Surat Thani – Thai and foreign tourists, estimated by Koh Phangan officials to be more than 10,000 people, gathered on Koh Phangan in Surat Thani for a retro Full Moon party yesterday evening, April 16th.

This year’s “Back to the Roots” Full Moon party was hosted by entrepreneurs in the Haad Rin area who were responsible for health screening their own customers before allowing them to participate in the party.

Police officers and volunteers were also deployed at checkpoints at the beach to facilitate the establishment of health screening and document checking and to provide safety among the tourists. Haad Rin officials and police claimed all Covid-19 precautions were taken.

The event started at around 7:00 PM. when the beach was crowded with a large group of Thai and foreigners from all over the world.

Is that not classed as a mass gathering, or is it only protests in those numbers that are targeted?

That must be a pre-covid photo.  Not one person with a face mask.

No pal, we still have full moons even though the Thais in government  thought they could stop them ????

1.   Picture focuses on the falang not wearing a mask.... negative

2.  10,000 people...... negative

3.  party during COVID in Thailand.... negative

we wonder why Thais are afraid of dirty falang, why we become dirty falang, and once again are labeled as not responsible and will be the reason for the COVID spike coming next.

If this picture is old, then the plan is to be negative to the falang.  why?????????

if falang post picture of Thais, falang gets sued for defamation

falang no win......no win....only lose

Really I live on KP I wonder where these 10,000 plus were hiding during the day because I didn’t see them mind you I would estimate that 30% would be locals !

For a while now both thais and foreigners, nobody wears a mask in the islands/tourist areas as it should be everywhere on this planet.

How would that work? The certificate  number and passport  number and vaccine number and administrative  details would have to be integrated into the Mor Prom MOH Data  base.

TBF, the story does state "Thai & Foreign" people attended , and the story doesn't just focus on Felangs .

This story is about people attended a full moon party and its nothing to do with where those people came from . I do think that you are unnecessarily playing the race card

No - the parties have been happening for a while. Just no big song and dance about them.

This was the first 'official' one.

Nope. As at15 mentioned, on KPN most foreigners have been maskless for a while.

Never masks at the previous FMP's.

Probably why there is an increase in positive Covid cases after the FMP.

Most on Koh Samui are still wearing masks.

Everyone where I live and work are. Also true in all shops, offices etc etc.

The maskless ones are mostly foreign tourists but they also mask up when going into shops.

The bit that people are missing is the fact that many people in SE Asia were wearing masks before Covid.

Pollution and traffic fumes being the main reason.

Doesn't ring a bell for me. Either way, I distinctly remember reading an article on Thai Visa about how an era came to an end and by bye for good to the full moon party.

My vaccination records from Sweden are accepted, not in the Mor Prom

Sorry but either you are not on the island, don't leave the hills or live in a bar and never leave it. Well over 75% of the people still wear masks unless they are in a Restaurant or Bar. The ones who don't seem to be tourists.

I sure think that behaviour puts all of us at risk. We're long past the days of that farang refusing Anutin's mask. We now know they work.
