Pattaya: Multiple shots fired at Harley Davidson showroom - influential figures behind attack

Daily News Thai Cap: Fight (over) bike orders

 

Daily News reported that a group of four men who arrived on two big bikes fired around 20 shots at the Harley Davidson showroom on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya.

 

Police found evidence of 11 shots in the front windows. They were from an 11 mm gun. 

 

A security guard said he was told to stand aside then had his phone taken so that the gang could get clear of the scene.

A report has been made to the police.

 

Advisor to HOG AAS Harley Davidson Thaksin Monthonthaksin said it was over the issuance of vehicle reservation slips.

He has been in disagreement over the reserving of vehicles with one group angry after being told to wait for their money after they opted out of buying due to slow delivery times.

 

Thaksin said that he felt his life was in danger as those behind the shooting are people of influence with interests in online gambling.

But ..... I thought Pattaya was a top family resort ,at least that's

what TAT keeps saying, in 35 years of living in Thailand ,and been

to most parts of Thailand , I have never been to Pattaya , just does

no appeal to me, have I been missing much ? .

Without condoning this shooting one iota, I too would want my deposit refunded promptly if my order was cancelled.

If Thaksin knows these guys have "influence" then I think the easy solution of returning their deposits promptly has been staring him in the face for a while....

Many years ago, pre kids, my, western, wife and I used to go there for weekends to avail ourselves of the plentiful golf courses in the area. Used to stay at the Marriott in the middle of town and get up early to drive to all parts. There were some good seafood places along Walking Street and it was always fun to watch the tourists getting diddled by the ladyboys but I would imagine that will be all gone now.

Not many fairgrounds look good in the daylight do they?

Maybe this Thaskin who lost a lot of money at the online casino would be a better version of the story.

I do find it amusing all the big macho patch wearing bike group members that frequent Fat Boy's Restaurant on Khao noi.... coming and going on Clicks and Waves.. and the odd Fino too !!

Somebody else may believe the deposits have already been spent on something else hence not being able to pay back the money...I couldn't possibly comment.

I was taken once for a nigh out by Thai friends..

arrived at 11pm and straight into a club.. came out at 3pm.. Had a drive around the next morning, had a rubbish crab lunch and taken back home...

I won't be going back.

Harley-Davidson Pattaya motorbike shop shooting was allegedly due to a conflict over vehicle reservation bill

 

 

A shooting incident in which more than 10 gunshots were reportedly fired at the Harley-Davidson Pattaya motorbike shop early Tuesday morning was allegedly due to a conflict over a vehicle reservation bill, according to Pattaya police spokespeople and a person close to the situation.

 

Police are hunting for four suspects who allegedly opened fire with more than 10 gunshots at the Harley-Davidson Pattaya motorbike shop before speeding away on motorcycles early yesterday morning (April 19th).

 

Mr. Taksin Montontaksin, 44, a consultant from the HOG AAS Pattaya group (motorbike club) told The Pattaya News, “On April 19th, I was sleeping at night at my residence when several suspects fired gunshots into my house and my car not long before the same shooting at the Harley-Davidson shop around 4:00 A.M. Luckily, nobody was injured.”

“I have had an ongoing problem with a group of people about a Harley-Davidson motorcycle reservation, in which someone pays a “down payment” before an order is taken for specific vehicles.” Taksin explained to TPN media.

 

“This person is disappointed as they felt they waited for their motorbike for too long. They wanted an exception on having to pay the reservation bill for 10,000 baht. However, without this initial payment, it is impossible to secure an ordered motorbike. So I decided to pay the reservation bill for the person, however, they agreed to pay for the motorbike in full when the vehicle arrived.” Taksin explained.

huh....   this makes no sense... 

 

So...  Taksin (the guy who’s car, house and dealership was shot) needed a 10,000 baht deposit (very low), but the guys ordering the motorcycle wanted an exception (didn’t want to pay), so Taksin paid himself, then it took too long for the bike to arrive....

 

... So they (the perpetrators of the shooting) were not owed any money, had not put down a deposit, but were annoyed it was taking too long.

 

Is that about right ???....   got to be more to the story unless they are utter thugs.

What a deposit for a new Harley?  Well considering that

it is fairly expensive, yes I would want to have a deposit up front as well.

  I hope to hear of 4 guys being hauled in front of a judge, for their actions.
