Electric Vehicles in Thailand

If you haven't seen it yet, this is Elon Musk's worst nightmare, and the reason you should dump Tesla stock as quick as you can. The specs on the "Max" version are astonishing.

Your assumption Thailand will follow, is I believe, false.   Two completely separate markets with separate circumstances.   What kickstarted the EV revolution here was BYD & GW

That is correct.  You and @Pib got it right.

It is a Vinfast that scraped the curb  in Laos and there is no indication it is registered in Thailand,  so it will not join our little list.

Here is a longer version of the same fire.

It comes with free superglue.

Yeap....it does match Neta U images vs a Vinfast when googling...plus we hear a guy say Neta in the video.

When some ghastly EV gets released by an air filtration company in China 🇨🇳 we are all supposed to bend over backwards in awe, but when an EV explode in a giant fireball in a neighboring country to Thailand 🇹🇭 it is off topic?

I see the cherry 🍒 harvest is still in full swing.

Why the fourth F in FFFF?

Let's be more accurate...it comes with free "shoe glue" as it works better on plastics than super glue.  😀

Unfortunately plastics/fibers are covering more & more new vehicles now days especially the front and rear ends...expect it's cheaper than metal and definitely lighter.

It's hardly ghastly. It's a great looking car and extremely well specced (23 speaker Dolby Atmos system anyone?). Design was led by Chris Bangle with a team of other ex MB and BMW designers. It's true they are having teething problems with initial build quality but I am 100% sure these will be quickly ironed out. The rest of the car is light years ahead of any FFF car.

Perhaps you think it's ghastly because it isn't covered in stickers or go faster stripes?

Dude, you're letting your ignorance show.   And you didn't watch the vids, (especially Buffy's) as Xiaomi is first an foremost, a smartphone company. image.png.87c196209b3fe3dfd14dbf07811d1fe2.png

In honor of yesterday's Neta U fire, we will skip today's EV fire 🔥 and sacrifice a Neta V on the EV altar.

Apart from from being on its back and not on fire, do you notice anything unique EV about this accident?

Happy to report that the driver only sustained minor injuries.

I would suggest that not all batteries from electric vehicles involved in accidents are damaged. I wonder if these could be purchased, as they probably would be great for a solar project for a house?

I'm trying to figure out how the four evening spaced punctures/indents circled below occurred.

Good observation. He probably scraped the concrete curb before landing in the ditch.

What is also worth noticing is that the front wheels are still spinning, making the rescue scene very dangerous.

Rupture your fuel tank on your ICEV and the result isn't much different.

You’re right can’t be happening as my EV and house batteries are Lithium Iron Phosphate not Lithium Ternary.

As I have pointed out before, lithium iron phosphate batteries can and do experience thermal runaway.

Here are some scientific studies for you to educate yourself:

If BYD's testing of their LFP blade battery (as installed in the Seal) is to be believed, the chances of thermal runaway are low compared to conventional LFP batteries and NMC batteries.

"While undergoing nail penetration tests, the blade battery emitted neither smoke nor fire after being penetrated, and its surface temperature reached only 30 to 60°C. Under the same conditions, the NMC battery exceeded 500° C and violently burned, and while a conventional LFP block battery did not openly emit flames or smoke, its surface temperature reached dangerous temperatures of 200 to 400 degrees celsius. This suggests that EVs equipped with the LFP blade battery should be far less susceptible to catching fire, even when severely damaged."

Unfortunately Lee 65 is not interested in real world evidence. He keeps quoting a couple of Chinese studies, so best to ignore him.

The recent video of a BYD Seal being rolled at high speed into a concrete post did not result in a thermal runaway event or even any injuries and that’s good enough for me.

An off-topic troll post and subsequent replies have been removed as they were in violation of our Community Standards.

From the OP... "This is a discussion about EVs available or coming to Thailand. Not private imports but cars supported here with a dealer network."

Are you sure, I was caught in the middle of a motorway accident, must be over 40 years back, I could see inside the fuel tank of the car in front, the area had his petrol on the road, it did not ignite, it evaporated........😂

An EV would have probably exploded, with gases nobody wants to breathe filling the area.........😋

https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/21/electric-cars-more-likely-to-hit-pedestrians-than-petrol-vehicles-study-finds

"Hybrid and electric cars are more likely to strike pedestrians than petrol or diesel vehicles, particularly in towns and cities, according to an analysis of British road traffic accidents.

Data from 32bn miles of battery-powered car travel and 3tn miles of petrol and diesel car trips showed that mile-for-mile electric and hybrid cars were twice as likely to hit pedestrians than fossil fuel-powered cars, and three times more likely to do so in urban areas."

You guys are really reaching, and still way off topic.  One of the only threads I enjoy coming on AN to read, and really is ruined by you trolls.

ICE vs EV ... COULD YOU PLEASE START USING IT, or back to the ignore list with you all.

Or, to rephrase, petrol and diesel cars are really noisy.

Or to rephrase

Pedestrians are twice as likely to step out in front of a quiet car and cause an accident (like an EV for example).

I didn’t realise that hybrids and EVs have a mind of their own. Are they rundown anti-EVers for fun?

EOW,

Maybe you should bow-out of this tread if you want to continue to sidetrack & troll the thread.

Ignoring me won't change that you've still got several potentially explosive batteries inside and parked next to your house.  And anyway, what do the Chinese know about EV batteries?  🤣

The cope!
