B-Quik is hardly Soi Buffalo.  Your knowledge shines like an extinguished beacon in your sea of ignorance.

I’m pretty new to BEV but we do have a hybrid. We were in Robinson in Sriracha yesterday and they had a DEEPAL S05 Max …looked good for the money but no idea if it is … anyone got one or test driven one. Battery is not very big 56kWHr I think, but does have V2L.

i like the deepal s05, the specs are good. the car is certainly not a sports car, but it is perfectly sufficient for everyday use and also suitable for occasional long-distance trips. just visit a dealer near you and take a test drive so you can get your own impression. in my opinion, the deepal s05 is also an excellent entry into electric mobility ...

Still happy with my Neta V, nearly 5 months now and it just works.

My pal bought a new MG3 Hybrid 2 months back, emission warning comes on and off, MG say common problem, no need to fix ....... so much for their warranty.

Doing that on Wednesday. Want to know what the ride is like. To compare with the 10 year old Everest that we have …that one has only done 60k kms but really it’s due for a change and We have a little spare solar and only 900k for the max …didn’t know you could buy new cars that cheap…

We had a blow out in the Seal yesterday, front tyre destroyed.  We hit a pothole at about 110kmhr.

we completed the 68km journey to Tyres Plus on a slide-on transporter. 4,000 baht.

Tyres Plus have a tyre guarantee, I’m expecting to only pay for the amount of wear we’ve used in 7,000 km.

On another note, I said I would get back with the real world EV range of my Mercedes S560e.  I think it has never been used as an EV, the charger is still sealed in its bag.  First journey we made the car said 52km range on a full charge, it’s been steadily dropping to 31km, probably as it adapts to my driving style. It will do more if not around town and it’s just enough for the journeys I make most of the time.

The car’s warranty expires in February, I will be extending it every year at approx 65,000 baht per year.

We went to an open day/test drive and got a 47 point free vehicle check, they said all was ok including the battery.

That S560e is a nice car, we have an older S and a E350e. When we bought that we paid about 250k to extend manufactures warranty to a total of 8 years. That is not a bad deal and allows me to sleep peacefully at night.LOL

Air suspension is notorious for failing and will cost you 100k to fix.

When you test drive the BEV be sure to compare get-up & go (i.e., acceleration) between the BEV and your Everest ICE (2.0L diesel?)...and be sure to have the BEV in Sport mode (vs ECO or Normal) to get the full acceleration feeling.   I'm pretty sure you will notice the BEV has a LOT MORE get-up & go than your ICE vehicle when can come in handy sometimes even for conservative drivers (like me).

When I did a test drive of my 2023 Atto (now had it a little over 2 years) the get-up & go in comparison to my 2009 Fortner 3.0L diesel (which I've now had for 16 years) was "bigly" as the English scholar Donald J. would say.   The fuel cost savings is also bigly.   And when you give family/friends a ride in your new BEV and really press of fuel pedal to see their eyes open wide as they feel the acceleration is an enjoyable feeling in seeing their reaction.

Be sure to check-out models from other manufacturers like BYD, MG, etc., vs just Changan.....and if you are not quite ready to buy DO NOT be rushed into buying on some supposedly end-of-year/motor show promotion as prices will continue to slowly rachet downward with all the competition and new models coming out.

In closing, I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever BEV you decide on.

I took out the ฿450 warranty policy when I put four new tires on at Tyres Plus and the new tire is free because we’ve done under 12,000 km

Only if you use Merc spares. My friend owns 50% of CT14 Supercar Service Center and changed the fronts for me on the S ….not very expensive at all. Merc changed the rears on the E350e all under the 8 year warranty.

The MG3 Hybrid also has a dangerous fault in the driver's seat latch.

MG Motor has commenced a safety recall campaign for selected MG3 models, after discovering a seat defect that could increase the risk of leg injuries in a crash.

During Euro NCAP’s testing for the MG3 conducted in September 2025, the driver side seat (with six-way manual adjustment) slid forward by 111.5mm on the side closest to the centre console upon collision. This movement may increase the risk of leg injuries in the event of a frontal impact.

well, 255/35 tires do not like potholes 🤣

so, how do you like that tires profile on the Seal? did the EV range drop too much?

I'm planning to have my next tires 235/45 -- I dont dare going 35.

I haven't noticed a drop in range, but I probably wouldn't.

The steering is much more direct with 35 profile tyres, I think you could go wider with the standard wheels to 245.

On reflection, I prefer 45 profile, but with my wider wheels we will go 255/45 next time.  My 35 profile tyres don't like pot holes at all and you cant see from the phot I posted but it's almost 6" deep and I think we caught it at just the wrong place so it hit the sidewall. I have a theory that lower profile tyres handle better in a blowout.

Tyre wear seems to be a lot less with these tyres.

Pros and Cons of Low-Profile Tires

https://rnrtires.com/tips-guides/pros-and-cons-of-low-profile-tires-explained/

If you’re shopping for new tires for your car, there is no shortage of options to pick from. Low-profile tires, for example, are popular among everyday drivers for their sleek, sporty look and great performance.

While these tires offer many benefits, shoppers should consider the drawbacks before choosing. We’ll explain the pros and cons of low-profile tires so tire shoppers can make an informed and confident decision.

Understanding Low-Profile Tires

Before dissecting the benefits and drawbacks, you might wonder what low-profile tires are. Low-profile tires are easily recognizable due to their short sidewalls and wide treads, giving them a sportier appearance and influencing road performance.

A tire is low-profile if it has an aspect ratio of 50 or less, meaning the sidewall height is 50 percent or less of its width. These tires are great for enhancing performance because they offer a larger contact patch that improves grip and stability during quick maneuvers.

Advantages of Low-Profile Tires

Low-profile tires are popular among many drivers due to the various advantages they offer, from their stylish look to their great braking performance.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/rnrtires.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/06143918/JSATires-318199-tires-wheel-brakes-image-a1.jpg

Improved Handling and Responsiveness

One of the most significant advantages of low-profile tires is they offer great performance as well as better handling and responsiveness. Thanks to their wider tread and lower sidewalls, these tires enhance the vehicle’s ability to corner.

The reduced flex in the sidewalls translates to better stability and agility, allowing drivers to feel more connected to the road. This feature is particularly beneficial for cornering while driving sports cars and high-performance vehicles.

Aesthetic Appeal

Many drivers like low-profile tires due to their stylish, sleek appearance. The aggressive stance and visual impact of low-profile tires can make any vehicle stand out. Whether you’re entering a car show or driving around town, low-profile tires can be a game-changer.

Potential for Improved Fuel Efficiency

Low-profile tires also have practical advantages, including fuel efficiency potential. The reduced rolling resistance due to the tire’s design can optimize fuel consumption. Though the difference might not be drastic, every little bit counts when considering long-term savings on fuel costs. This can be a bonus for car owners looking to maximize performance while minimizing expenses at the pump.

Enhanced Braking Performance

You’ll notice better braking performance after installing low-profile tires. With a larger contact patch on the road, these tires provide the necessary traction to stop quickly. This can improve braking distances, especially on dry surfaces, and give drivers more confidence in their ability to control the vehicle in emergencies.

Drawbacks of Low-Profile Tires

We’ve explained the pros of low-profile tires, but what about the cons? Every driver should consider the drawbacks of low-profile tires before purchasing.

Impact on Ride Comfort

While low-profile tires offer greater grip and performance than other types, they do come at the cost of ride comfort. The reduced sidewall height means less cushioning between the vehicle and the road, leading to a firmer, less forgiving ride. Drivers may experience more vibrations and bumps, especially on less-than-perfect roads.

Risk of Damage From Road Hazards

Low-profile tires are more susceptible to road damage than other types due to their construction. The shorter sidewalls provide less protection against potholes, curbs, and debris, which raises the likelihood of rim damage or blowouts. This vulnerability can result in costly repairs and replacements, making it essential to weigh this factor when choosing tires.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/rnrtires.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/06143949/JSATires-318199-tire-blow-out-image-b1.jpg

Cost Considerations

If you want the great performance and sleek look of low-profile tires, you’ll have to pay more than the standard rate for typical tires. Their specialized design and materials typically come at a premium cost.

Maintenance and replacement expenses are also steep, as these tires may wear out faster than others due to their performance-oriented construction. Budget-conscious drivers should carefully consider the long-term financial implications of opting for low-profile tires.

Increased Road Noise

Low-profile tires aren’t the most comfortable or the quietest tires. With less rubber between the rim and the road, these tires can amplify the sounds of the surface beneath them, leading to a noisier ride compared to conventional tires. This is especially noticeable on highways and rough terrains. Drivers who prefer a quiet, serene driving experience may not enjoy their travels with low-profile tires.

Who Should Consider Low-Profile Tires?

Low-profile tires are best for sports cars and performance vehicles due to the emphasis on handling and aesthetics. However, other vehicles can benefit. If you often drive on well-maintained roads and prefer a sportier look for your sedan or SUV, low-profile tires might be worth considering.

Making an Informed Decision

There’s much to consider when deciding on new tires for your vehicle, so consider these factors before getting low-profile tires for your car.

Your Driving Needs

The first step is evaluating your driving habits. Do you frequently navigate city streets, or do you spend more time on highways? Understanding how and where you drive will help you determine if low-profile tires are suitable for your lifestyle.

Road Conditions

The types of roads you usually travel on play a significant role in your tire decision. Low-profile tires excel on smooth, well-maintained surfaces, providing enhanced handling and responsiveness. However, if you often drive on bumpy or poorly maintained roads, thicker tires offer better comfort and durability.

Your Budget

Low-profile tires are more expensive than standard tires and may require specific rims or adjustments to your vehicle. Assess your financial situation, and determine if the potential performance benefits justify the investment.

Tire Models

Before making a choice, research various tire models. Different brands offer unique features and performance characteristics. By consulting tire experts and reading reviews, you can find options that meet your needs.

Performance vs. Comfort

For many drivers considering low-profile tires, the deciding factor comes down to whether they prefer performance or comfort for their vehicle. If you prioritize a smooth ride and everyday usability, you might want to consider tires that offer more cushioning. However, low-profile tires will provide the thrilling driving experience you seek if precise handling and responsiveness excite you.

with 245 you will definitely suffer range impact, at least 5% or more.

On another note, it's crazy stupid how the new made-in-th BYD Atto 3s are sold with a 235 rites on a RIM designed for 215. it's looks horrendous, that rim is only 18x7.0" !!!

I got 18x8.5" that looks good with 245, but the motor only has 310NM of torque, I stick with 225-235.

Went to look earlier today. It’s quite a big car and looks solid. The seats are firm as are most new cars now. Our W221 S has nice soft seats but it’s a bit of a black hole where money is concerned … the SO5 seats feel soft.  Might test drive the sealion 7 when we get back home. Anyway SO5 test drive tomorrow.

I hear you ... 8 ish seconds if fast enough for me, and I haven't tested that out yet.  Not to 100 kph anyway, but sport mode, is pretty damn sporty, even for the ZS.  If I want to go fast, I'll by a fast scooter, Kawi 1100.  Days of playing speed racer are long behind me.
