Guy from Ukraine jailed for drug, anybody has updates ? I cannot find anything about the case ?

I hope that someone can help them.

Thanks.

If you're talking about Thailand, there has been no reports to date.

I have to imagine there are many, many, many things that happen that will never get reported in the main stream news.   If a relative, Ukraine embassy.   If a close friend, maybe information on Facebook from close friends/relatives.   Perhaps Ukraine news sites........I wonder if you can do a missing persons with the embassy......if extremely concerned.

How did you know about him first? And why are you so worried about him?

I think it disappeared because the powers that be judged it to be fake. The person who wrote it as the Ukrainian mother of this guy said her English wasn't good but really not the case.  It read more like some who was a native speaker of English trying incompetently to make it look like the words were written by a foreigner. And then there's the fact that this person claimed her son had already been tried and convicted in a very short space of time. That's not how things work. And finally, there's the fact that this alleged mother made no mention of coming here herself.

Actually, the first thing that made it suspect to me was the fact that of all the ethnicities out there, it happened to be Ukrainian. Which, for obvious reason, is one very likely to elicit sympathy. The kind of person who would concoct such a ruse is someone who needs to feel smarter than others in order to compensate for strong feelings of inferiority. If, as is likely, such a person has another avatar on aseannow.com, you'll find that they uses denigrating words to characterize those that they disagree with. This person might even explicitly characterize themself as being more intelligent than others.

The short answer to your question is that - in all probability - it was a hoax started by a fraudulent post.

What made me suspicious and led to the actual  removal, apart from the details mentioned above, was the fact they claimed to be in Birmingham UK, yet they were posting from BANGKOK !

You may be correct.   However why did the mother repeatedly reply to posters asking about food or service suppliers to prison inmates?  Would have expected acGoFundMe plea or similar.  Things don't add up.  Unless just a plain old windup.

She seemed to want to send money to people in BKK , so they could take food and things to her son in jail

They meant media reports or anything official , rather than just an anonymous post on here

Not inconsistent with what I posited.

What's he look like?  If I see him, I'll let you know.

The responses seemed a little fishy also.  Replying to obvious joke responses seriously with "Thank you dear reader, blah blah blah".

The claim of someone smuggling cocaine from the UK to Thailand was suspect right out the gate.

People already smuggle drugs to the UK from Asia, there would be zero point in smuggling them out of the UK once there.

And they said the Thai girlfriend had nothing to do with it, so some random from the UK with well off parents decides all by himself to smuggle drugs back to one of their possible origins just seems insane.

To build a credible legend?

That is a good point.

No it's not. Thailand  is not a source of cocaine to the west. Its South  America  to West Africa  to Asia. Its very expensive  here. Anyway there is a big difference  between  cartel size  activities and an individual's party pack.

What is REALLY REALLY amazing is people who know nothing but keep talking, with so many experts on this forum.

Who doesn't know that cocaine is brought to Asia from all over the world should finally feel ashamed, at least for his family who is so unlucky. Please, most of you who know nothing, stop talking $hit, your parents should have taught you how to look smarter and not ridiculous.

You could well be right about the cocaine. I've been shamefully lax in consuming the stuff here in Thailand and elsewhere.

But did you read the moderator's comment that the "mother" said she was in the UK but the ISP was actually located in Bangkok?
