Daily News Thai Caption: Arrested!

Daily News reported that the Surin police announced the arrest by Pattaya police of a suspect in the case of the murder of 31 year old transgender Theerapong.

As reported by ASEAN NOW yesterday, Theerapong was found in a storeroom of a house in Kang-en subdistrict of Prasat district. Decomposition had set in and the murder was believed to have taken place elsewhere in the house some weeks prior.

Pattaya police took a man called Mr Liternia into custody. His nationality could not be confirmed as yet.

The media said he was hiding in Pattaya.

He has been taken to Surin and DNA checks are being made.

The media further reported that the scene of the murder was all quiet while the deceased's mother's property nearby was a hub of sad activity where a funeral was being arranged.

This is due to take place imminently.

Not to sound like a lynch mob, but if he's the right guy i hope that he will be dealt with to the fullest extend of the law...

that was fast arrest, within a day or two of warrant.

Even if they did not disclose publicly his picture or description.

Did he check in to Pattaya hotel in his own name?

Aren't all murderers incredibly stupid?

Reminds me of Begbie in Trainspotting when he found out the girl he had picked up had a cock.

And even if he was , most certainly does not deserve to be killed . If he did deceive the punter , sure he deserves a few slaps but most certainly not to be killed.

I recommend that you don't rely on that belief should you ever find yourself on the wrong side of the law.

I was fooled by one who said she had 6 inches. By heck, it was about 4.

2027 for Vorayuth's charges' statute of limitations.

"...so called professional's that allow him to wander the World freely"

He's allowed to "wander the world" because he's not wanted anywhere in the world, except Thailand for his offences here.  Thailand's "professionals" (presumably you mean the RTP) are not "allowing him to wander freely", they have no jurisdiction outside Thailand and cannot stop him doing what he wants, where he wants.

No,some are really quite cunning and calculating and have got away with it for decades.

Flee the country - where to? Understandable if he is a Ukrainian as rumours says ...

If the RTP provided the evidence for an Interpol Red Notice, and the subsequent extradition proceedings, he could be arrested wherever he is found within the territory of the signatories.

"If the RTP provided the evidence for an Interpol Red Notice..."

They did and a Red Notice was issued.  The issue is that Interpol's notices are advices to member forces, they are not instructions, and he cannot be extradited from countries where he has not been arrested.

In any case, there would have to be an extradition treaty in place between the country where he is, let's say detained, and Thailand, in order for extradition to take place. It is not as straightforward as some appear to believe.

You're right, but extradition can be accomplished even in the absence of a treaty.

This guy is a Lithuanian and he meet this ladyboy several times. This must be a complete stupid. He could have left the country straight after he killed her. Either he is stupid or he didn't do it. Nobody with a clear mind kill anyone and then go to Pattaya where many knew him. I think he would think Thailand would be the last place to spend the rest of his life behind bars... Something is not correct...
