List of cheap/imported goods supermarkets

Featured Replies

Are there any supermarkets around Phuket that cater to foreigners specifically? In Pattaya, for example, there are some smaller supermarkets (i.e. Siamburi's), more like little shops, that have mostly imported goods from England but also some other frozen goods (salmon, beef patties etc.) that are way cheaper than those in Tops, Villa etc. Is there anything like that on Phuket. Also is there some sort of farmers market or organic food shop?

I second that place. Use all the time. But really not any cheaper same for same Makro, but larger selection.

I you really want a real price blowout then Villamarket is the place. Think 3 stores about Phuket. One Chalong roundabout.

There are quite a few outlets for imported Euro foodstuff on Phuket. Central Food Hals - Patong, Phuket Town, and Bang Tao, Villa Markets.

Macro (a few sites dot the island as well) do falang stuffs and has the cheapest imported beef I have ever found on the island, also lamb at good prices for bulk amounts ... Macro is a bulk buy site sort of like Costco in the US.

There are smaller boutique independents dotted about the island.

Great French 'bucher' in Rawai. I do my Euro /Aussie shopping at Central Food Hall Bang Tao,

We buy and can future order beef, lamb, some seafood (Tassie lobsters, Aussie tiger prawns [shrimp to you Yanks]) from them.

I have had feedback from an informed associate Villa does not manage their meat preservation systems at all well so I never buy my meat from them in Phuket.

As others have said herein in reply to you, there are NO reasonably priced foreign imported food stuffs in Thailand (even less so on Phuket) the reason being the import tariffs. Expect a 200 to 300 % markup.

Are you seriously suggesting that Villa is in any way cheap?

Villa Market is easily the most expensive western supermarket by a long way, much better using Foodland.

Great, thanks for the replies all. Totally forgot about this thread and just checked back in.

Yeah, with cheap I meant cheaper than Villa and Central Supermarket, but ofc I know that imported goods and western food is definately not 'cheap' in Thailand :D.

Thanks, I will check FFF (pretty much what I was looking for as far as I can tell from the pics) and GJC out.
