Totally agree. I used to be a forensic sciences instructor. I always had each of my students research a death penalty case where the defendant was eventually exonerated and give a presentation on all of the details, including the crime, why the person was arrested, the evidence, the years wrongfully incarcerated, an account of every instance of the defendant facing imminent death, and the compensation given for, in MANY instances, the decades spent behind bars for a crime they didn't commit. Occasionally, there were tears in the classroom! One of the biggest injustices is those who were repeatedly denied the chance to introduce new evidence post-conviction, especially after DNA tech was introduced. Another was the surprisingly high rate of erroneous eyewitness testimony. Classic, I'd have another instructor enter the room for a brief side discussion with me. After the other instructor left, I had the students give a complete description of him or her: height, hairstyle and color, clothes worn, tats, scars, etc. Remarkably poor results. -

Despite tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border, the city continues to attract travellers worldwide. Based on extensive search and booking data from millions of travellers, Bangkok remains a key destination for tourists, noted Ms. Sasikan Wattanachan, deputy government spokesperson. This enduring appeal underscores the city's resilience, even as regional uncertainties persist. Leading the list of top travel destinations are Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, followed by Tokyo, Japan, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Remarkably, Bangkok holds its place as a favourite despite political and geographical challenges. From January to early August 2025, Thailand welcomed 19,569,746 international visitors, according to Thai tourism authorities. The highest numbers of tourists came from China, Malaysia, India, Russia, and South Korea. Specifically, China led with 2,733,160 visitors, while South Korea contributed 918,372. These figures reflect not only Bangkok's appeal but also Thailand's overall attractiveness as a travel hub. The diverse influx highlights Thailand's ability to cater to various cultural and experiential preferences, offering something unique for every traveller. The Thai government remains committed to maintaining Thailand's position as a premier travel destination. Ms. Wattanachan emphasised the nation's confidence in its cultural heritage, exemplary hospitality, and adherence to international safety standards. This assurance aims to enhance the tourist experience, ensuring every journey is memorable. In light of this, the government is implementing initiatives to bolster tourism further. These include streamlined visa processes, improved infrastructure, and strengthened global partnerships to enhance travel connections. Tourism plays a crucial role in Thailand’s economy, contributing significantly to local businesses and communities. The influx of tourists supports various sectors, from hospitality and retail to cultural and recreational activities. This ripple effect fosters job creation and economic growth, benefiting the nation as a whole. Amidst the current global landscape, maintaining popularity among tourists requires strategic planning and adaptability. Thailand's ability to do so highlights its dynamic approach to tourism, balancing respect for tradition with modern innovation.
