5. On the positive side: They have the best beaches and the clearest water I have ever seen. Much better than in Thailand. Generally.

Didn't they have to close Boracay because it was so ruined by tourists?

I do not know that. If yes then well after my time. When I was in Boracay it was a paradise.

You "passed on"?

And then, the Filipina nurse revived you?

She was so gorgeous I should have passed on then because I'll never see a more beautiful woman rest of my life.

I never met a Thai or a Filipina that was romantic.

I did meet a Filipina with the sexiest legs I've ever seen. Her gams should have been immortalised in Madame Tussaud's.

Does that make a difference?

No.

In short from my own personal experience:

1. Filipinas as wives = Horror stories -> I can confirm that

2. English speaking ability -> I can confirm that, but no wonder, English is one of the two official languages of the country, the other being Tagalog

3. Food = Confirmed, its terrible, at least compared to Thai food

Let me add

4. Security: Dangerous.

5. On the positive side: They have the best beaches and the clearest water I have ever seen. Much better than in Thailand. Generally.

Only my own experience over many years, but 2., 3. 4. and 5. I regard as a given.

P.S.: Interesting how you use the term "dreck". So not only many words find their way into the German language but as well the other way round.

I think my favorite German word is schadenfreude. Not that I am into it myself.

Haikus are not supposed to be trite.

Sure, you probably need to work on the 7 syllable line...

Add: "The sun shines, a mountain moves."

Flip food is an absolute horror show.

If I were to pick one, Thai would be the choice based on food alone. Other than that, they are the same. The notion that one could be better than the other is based on stereotyping.

disclaimer: I have been married to both a Thai and a Filipina and speak both languages somewhat.

So not to sterotype but out of a population of 70 odd million in Thailand and 100 million in the phillos, outside of food they are all the same? ????????????????

They are not different. People vary individually but they are people. Chinese are not "inscrutable", get the point?

I worked with many Filipinas and met many Thai women.

IMO Thais are generally slimmer and Filipinas speak better English. Other than that, I doubt there is any difference.

You forgot one- Filipinas are strong Catholics (mostly)

Although I have no experience with Thai wives,

Culturally speaking, and generalizing a bit,

I would say that...

One Taiwan wife = Five wives from the Philippines, maybe six.

One American wife = One-third of a Chinese wife.

One HK wife = two Chinese wives.

Three Philippine wives = One American wife.

One Kowloon wife = 0.8 Hong Kong wives.

Therefore, please solve the above equations to arrive at the correct answer.

You left out the lovely ladies from Myanmar in your determinate breakdown...

It really depends on what you think makes a good wife...

And there are so many distinct areas here in Thailand that have different types of women... so many variables... an older farang w/an Isaan farmer? A mature lady who is happy to have a caring husband? w/ or w/o resources... kindly? Drinks too much?

From what i have seen, the larger factor is whether or not the husband makes a good husband and has an understanding and acceptance of the culture..

Anyone that states that have experience because they dated 1 or 2 of each is full of it.

There is no way a person can generalize two entire populations of women with such a small sample.

I seriously wonder about these folks that thinks they are an expert on women after dating 1 or 2?

When you say "horror show", did you actually mean horrorshow, like in Nadsat?

Because, in Nadsat, the term horrorshow means 'good'.

Please be very careful when slinging around these terms.

Thank you.

You're absolutely right. It was viddy careless of me.

Had loads of both,

Thai ladies are better at convincing me they really like me.

Filipino ladies are better company for an evening out.

Lots of very small Filipino girls, I had to set a lower weight limit (38Kg), never encountered that problem in Thailand.

I had a girl down to 37kg once. Most peculiar. What's the lowest you found and the shortest?

Generalizations are necessary and we use them all the time. But there's always someone like you who writes that.

Is it hard to make friends in Denmark? Generally, yes.

Do Brazilians like nightlife? Generally, yes.

Are North Koreans well-educated? Generally, no.

Why don't you take a walk through Compton, LA. at 2am telling yourself how you should never generalize.

"Is it hard to make friends in Denmark?" is a clear question, generalized of course but well defined.

Both you and I will agree what it means to make friends.

"Do Filipinas make better wives than Thais?" is an undefined question, because most likely you and I will NOT agree on what it means to be a better wife.

Now ask yourself this question (well defined): would you choose a Filipina over a Thai based on the answers in this forum, or would you use your own judgement?
