He'll end up buying his own ticket home if he keeps this up.

I don't envy his chances of a visa extension again.

He's not going to last until his next visa extension. He's not some big shot internationally known journalist...

Obviously not. Obviously German law is superior to Thai law in this regard.

That doesn't change the reality that if you criticize Thailand and/or Thai politics as a foreigner in Thailand you will offend a large segment of the population, and there's a very good chance your permission to reside in Thailand will be terminated.

He's got a screw loose.

I wouldn't even bother doing that with a detested politician in my own country.

Fruitless waist of time.

what law did he actually break by sitting next to a photo with a cross on it?

The unwritten law that foreigners behave sensibly in a foreign country, or don't come in the first place.

What a clown, he got away with a warning, now plans to continue, mate your extension WILL be revoked.

i was threatened with mine being revoked just for letting the F word slip out during a home visit when they wanted to see my bank book again.

LOL doesn't the German protester know he's living on borrowed time if he continues?  Doesn't he know that Prawit's goons are watching him?   The German should wash his hands of such folly before he gets stuck in a different timezone!  ????????????

At this stage it is not "Prawit Goons" that he has to worry about it is RTP and Thai immigration.

His wife may think things are rough now under Prawit but let's see how she likes life after her hubby is sent back to Germany and she either has the choice of possibly moving to Germany or being without her main source of income.

There is no way she will get a visa to visit Germany in the timeframe that Immigration will have to remove him.

Still say he's trying to get a free ticket to Germany.

If Germany is like the US, NOT a free trip.  If the US has to cover a deportation, they will hound the deportee and his relatives until it is paid back...and it's not a discount ticket.

He should go back to his roots and protest against his loser government.
Merkel was a loser, always hiding and responsible for the russian mess.

The new leader, Scholz is not better.

Off you go and do your job at home and not somewhere, where you having nothing to do with politics.

It's interesting to see the media attention (many TV stations have reported on it) that a single foreigner standing quietly, alone and peacefully at an intersection in Nakon Nowhere, holding up a crossed-out picture of a politician, can generate.

What the rulers fear is not that it is a foreigner who can easily be expelled, but any form of public protest.

Reminds me of the democratic protest movement 8 years ago, where Thai activists were taken off the train by the police and were not allowed to continue to Hua Hin in the figure corruption scandal. Or the lifting of a sandwich, the 3 finger salute or the truck driver honking 3 times.

Imagine that all motorists and motorcyclists who are dissatisfied with the current political situation honk their horns at the same time every day throughout Thailand.

Sometimes, it takes a case like this to remind expats that “free speech” does not exist in Thailand.

It is the simplest thing in the world to ignore politics.
