Daily News Thai Caption: The end...for the cat burglar

Daily News reported on the death of a suspected cat burglar stealing cables in the NE of Thailand.

Police in Nong Bua of Udon Thani found the 40-45 year old man with burns on his hands.

He was still clutching cables he'd cut. Pliers and gloves were found nearby.

A local official called Phiphat said that it looks as though the deceased had entered the area through a disused water park where he had already exhausted the supply of cables.

He'd now moved onto a deserted construction site that has been abandoned by the contractor for two years and was cutting cables there.

Stealing disused cables is never going to affect me..unless it's the one leading to my house..

Interesting that you say a petty thief deserves death..

Going our Muslim brothers one better.

Shocking! ????

So electric cables were still live years later on an abandoned site?

There's a certain degree of darwinism... but I agree, someone so desperate doesn’t deserve death, but he’s still a thief.

I’m not so sympathetic to these thieves, desperate or not.

My inlaws had a nice holiday home gutted by thieves like this when it was left unattended after the maid quit.

Had some poor <deleted> had electrocuted himself while gutting that house I’d feel a sense of satisfaction and no guilt.

Should say "electrocuted to death" according to the "modern definition". ????

At some point I'd think he became more than a petty thief. Small amounts at a time add up.

Can we please have a debate about precise meaning of ‘electrocuted’ because it was deleted from this thread (linked below).

At least we know it wasn’t the same guy !!!...

We had a bash at it before:

Conclusion: unclear...

No loss and not uncommon for cable thieves to perish cutting into a live copper cable, used to occur on our site at least once or twice a year when the lure of a big fat HV cable became too much  to resist.

As a boy Iwas told that pulling your wire would cause blindness but thisis serious.......????

Are you saying that a state funeral should be held for environmental hero who was working hard on lowering our dependency on electricity?

I wonder if this is the <deleted> that stole the cable to my house 200m of copper. I replaced it with aluminium but you have to ask for it as they hide it in the back of the store owing to it being many times cheaper than copper.

Gone in a flash...

Why did he bother bringing gloves?  If he wore them it's a possibility he'd still be alive.

Note to all cabe thieves; Carry a multi-meter with you on the job.

If they knew how to use a multimeter they’d not need to ‘thieve’ as they’d have firm career prospects being more qualified than half the nations electricians !!!! :whistling:
