webfact Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 A general view shows voting results during a UN General Assembly emergency meeting to discuss Russian annexations in Ukraine at the UN headquarters in New York City on October 12, 2022. The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday overwhelmingly voted to condemn Russia’s annexations of parts of Ukraine after Moscow vetoed a similar effort in the Security Council. Ed JONES / AFP Thailand has abstained, as did China and India, in a vote on the UN resolution not to recognise the four regions of Ukraine which Russia has claimed, following referenda held late last month. The UN General Assembly passed the resolution by a large majority on Wednesday, demanding that Moscow reverse course on its “attempted illegal annexation” of parts of Ukraine. The results were 143 member states in favour, with five voting against and 35 abstentions. The countries voting against were Belarus, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Nicaragua, Russia and Syria. The Russians make that clear all the time. So do the Chinese. There are no consequences for Thailand standing against the US and Europe. There never are, although with the huge trade surplus Thailand runs with the United States there could be. But the US acts like an empty suit. Won't do a thing. 9 1

Thailand voted FOR the U.N. daveAustin Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Thailand would likely vote appropriately if it had an honourable entity running it, like Thanatorn. At present, Russia, China, Thailand, Burma etc are one and the same thing. India? Lol. 2

With India, the US is repeating the same mistake it made with China, with an even more massive amount of Indian H1Bs coming into the US than ever was the case with China. India is all but making a colony out of the US. Won't be long before India demands the US vote India's way in the UN.
Popular Post simon43 Posted October 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2022 I bet the Myanmar military junta are p*ssed. While they are busy buying weapons from Russia to kill innocent civilians, their UN representative voted to condemn Russia, (because the Myanmar representative is from the real government of the country, and the junta have been trying to replace him with their shill, to no avail). 6 2

pomchop Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 so when/if someday china sends troops to annex thailand be sure and ask the UN for help and see how that goes

The Myanmar UN representative is nothing to do with the military junta - he bravely condemned the coup when it happened last February. 4 1

Aussieroaming Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Realistically will Ukrainians stop coming to Thailand for holidays because they abstained, probably not. Why would anyone expect a former Junta government to decry Russian behavior. Ukraine doesn't need Thailand's vote in order to maintain moral superiority. 2
