Where and what is required to obtain a Thai international Driver's License

Featured Replies

I would like to ask if anyone know where and what is required to obtain a "Thai International Driver's license" for a Thai national, and how long does it take to get??

tnx

It’s quick - just go to the DLT.

They will need their ID & full Thai Driving license (not a 2 year temp one).

I have a feeling only "main" DLT offices can issue, the one at Mo Chit certainly can (could pre-covid anyway).

Best to ask at your local office.

Good point…

Op… where are you ?
You may get a more accurate answer.

Example: Wife got hers from DLT area 3 (Bangkok, Sukhumvit rd).

I think she had to book an appointment online.

I have obtained them at Bangchak and at Morchit. No appointment, just walked in.

2 Photos and original 5 year Thai driving license, pay 505 baht fee.

I guess for a Thai national their ID card and maybe copy of house book would suffice.

????

Is the yellow house book a valid residence document? It is a nuisance getting the letters from immigration.

Generally yes. I have used mine for renewing driving licence, buying a car etc. However you might meet Mr Difficult who wants to apply his own version of the rules ...
