Former MP and TV presenter Chuwit Kamolwisit appeared at a press conference at a Bangkok hotel with a brown envelope with the name of Gen Surachate Hakpan printed on it. That's the top cop known universally as Big Joke.

Inside was a dossier on what Chuwit called Zero Dollar pubs.

He claimed they are operating in Rachada, Suthisan, Huay Khwang, and Rama 2 in Bangkok as well as Pattaya, reported Thai Rath.

This followed a drug bust of a large group of Chinese tourists in three buildings in the Yannawa area of Bangkok.

Chuwit said the clientele at these places is 100% Chinese.

The owners are Chinese.

Everthing is imported from China for them including Chinese cigarettes and Chinese liquor.

State officials are paid off to turn a blind eye.

There are Chinese girls serving.

The Chinese are running casinos too.

All these claims were in the brown envelope that he was handing to Gen Surachate.

He had already called him and the general was willing to investigate his claims.

Sure, point taken.

There's also plenty of Thais who have little hesitation to do things in other counties with no respect for local laws, ethics, behaviors. etc.

Staggering that this Big Joke fella (no pun intended, but with a name like that, WD<deleted> !) .. seems to get away with this kind of behaviour without challenge.

Oooh the horror!!!!!

Chinese running a for Chinese business and not giving the Thais a sub rosa cut big enough to stay silent.

What behaviour and challenged how?

From the story all he was going to do was investigate the claims Chuwit was making which is supposed to be his job.........unusual though that may be here...........:whistling:

Chuwit might have got more response if he'd sent the brown envelope to President Chairman Xi in Beijing, lol.

The people have a lot of faith in him and probably if he ran for PM he would win in a landslide.

Absolutely,

Even my hometown is littered with Thai massage parlors, Thai restaurants acting as ' fronts ' for growing weed etc

Also, Thai women who have separated from British husbands ' on the game '

Chuwit is never shy about telling it how he thinks it is and he knows the system from the inside. He is a bit like a reformed smoker.

What kind of behaviour would that be? As far as I can see is that somebody is going to give him a list of people and places to investigate! Or maybe you are reading the post a different way to me?

I always read big Joe did this big Joe did that how is everybody know that big joke is so honest maybe the appearance of being honest brown envelopes are past privately usually and nobody knows I know one time they said is Alexis or Mercedes got shot I’m not sure how a police can afford either of those brand of cars as far as the Chinese they’re involved in so much fear and get away with so much fear it was amazing the average person who lives here Thailand to a Chinese is that going to heaven here in Chiangmai many  massage shops And bars are really owned by Chinese do usually very quiet about it TIT

The “Zero Baht”-tours are quite well known.

However, with the current invasion of native Indians and the TAT concentrating on India as the next “1 billion plus” country to replace the China tourism,

I am wondering, if Chuwit’s focus on Chinese with his Zero Baht envelope is not blocking the view on the (Indian) Elephant in the room…

this your home town in Isaan ????  ? Buriram?

KTV = Karaoke "sex" venues in China have been forbidden for the past 3-4 years, Xi ordered the majority of them to close down, they had to find alternatives to keep the "working" girls busy, they tried Vietnam but were kicked out, the other options were Cambodia and Thailand.... not a surprise it has been going even before covid, back early 2019 had the "pleasure" to share air plane seat row with some, they didn't hide the purpose of their trip

Dont know why they call him joke when its actually " jok "  as in ( rice porrige) .

Knowing Chuwit, there's probably zero baht soapy massage involved somewhere. The man is rather grubby.

Sounds like my favorite French restaurant. French chef, French cheese, French wine. Not even a token Thai dish on the menu ????

If you think he’s one of the most honest cops around, you haven’t been here long either.

The organization is rotten to the core, there is no way of avoiding it. You pay for your place at the table, there is no way he has got to where he is without paying and there no way he isn’t (or the people who put him there aren’t) getting his investment back.

An honest cop in Thailand is akin to a vegetarian pork sausage.

I have thought there is no tourism from china.

Those in attendance came in local high end cars, they were not bussed in in groups. So they are local chinese or long term expats, on work contracts.

Also they were served by some 40 strong personel from - thai and foreign, but no chinese were mentioned in press releases.

I would not trust chuwit. More likely grabbing headlines. Maybe will be running for MP.

As to big joke - he has an elephant ticket. That means he is corrupted to the core. He is very much part of police mafia. Look, how fast he progressed in police ranks. Without an elephant ticket he would be nowhere

What is really staggering is how some fool decided to let him back into a position of authority, and give him the limelight he so desperately craves, despite being previously banished for his many offenses. This is no crime fighter. This is a publicity hound.

I like what you did there ????

TAT .....you got it all wrong lads.

Targeting the zero dollar Chinese and the mafia Russians is not the way to go.

You makes your bed....you lie in it.

Good luck with getting more of the above into Thsiland!!
