Always check prices at the checkout

Second time this has happened now, at a well known supermarket.

I see a pack of Emmental cheese, shelf tag says 160 baht. Good deal for the quantity and quality.

I have the mental habit of adding up my purchases as I go, so I have an approximate idea of my spend before I reach the checkout.

1200 baht, about 200 baht more than I was expecting. <deleted>? Sure enough, the Emmental price is 359 baht when I ask for an individual price check.

Last time, it was a two for one deal on yoghurt. The deal only applied to a certain expiry date, which was now out of stock. Funny, they forgot to remove the shelf price tags.

Mai Ow Krap in both cases, and I don;t care how long I hold up other customers. It's fraud.

Without fail , have a list ,write prices next to item , add anything else I buy,

know exactly how much i need to pay, have had many times when I have

been overcharged , never undercharged , honest mistakes , I don't know

but I am not paying for them.

regards worgeorgdie

That is par for the course. Tesco and Tops the masters. Oh the price tomorrow.

What you also need to be careful of is the hand is quicker than the eye trick with 7 and Lotus cashiers. Counting out your money. Often shorted 100 baht particularly if cashing 1000

I really would not care about them charging an additional 200 baht, if I was rich enough not to worry about them charging an extra 200 baht !!

Happy to let my wife pack and pay while I go get myself an ice-cream ????

check your receipt in tops supermarket for sure, prices on the shelves are often not the price at the till. i don;t know whether it's simply bad management and procedures or a scam but it happens a lot.

It's not unusual for prices on the shelf - if they bother to put a price at all - not to match what is charged. I've lost count of the number of times it's happened to me. And they appear to be aware of the problem as Lotus and Big C have price check positions around the store. I've never seen that in any other country, but I stand to be informed if they exist elsewhere.

Being able to correctly price things appears to be completely beyond them. Here are some examples, where you would expect supervisors to spot the errors even if the brain-deads who put the prices up do not.

Have been using delivery service from website and never had that happen - so they indeed seem to be able to price items in that format.  How many times have I seen customers drop item and replace in wrong position at store, or knock price tag off and replace in wrong position - that may account for many such sticker shocks.

Woolworths overcharged me $15. Refunded it. IGA overcharged me $5, gave me the product for free, their policy.

I think a lot of errors get through. Need to check.
