Thai man who won 6 million in the state lottery goes to the police after his wife disappears with the cash - and her lover!

Manich Pranee thought it was his lucky day - and some - when he scooped 6 million baht in the state lottery in the draw on November 1st.

He went with his common law wife and his three children to pick up the winnings at the lottery office.

They couldn't have been happier.

The money was put in his wife's account. What could possibly go wrong - he trusted Angkhanarak, 45, as they had raised a family together over the last 26 years.

He asked for a little over 1 million baht to make merit at their house in the Thawatburi police jurisdiction on Roi-Et, NE Thailand.

At the merit making a man arrived who Angkhanarak explained was a long lost relative.

Manich though nothing of it.

The man stayed with the family for three days before the wife and the man disappeared.

The pair were contacted and still no alarm bells were ringing - she said they'd be back soon, they had some business to attend to in Nong Khai.

Then one of the couple's sons heard from a neighbor that the man was not a relative.

He was his mother's lover and they had been carrying on for ages, not just three days.

A check on the account at the BAAC bank revealed that 2 million baht had been removed. The bank said the family should go to the police to try and get the account shut, reported Thai Rath

But that proved impossible.

Pol Lt-Col Somsak Ketphiboon of the Thawatburi police said no crime had been committed.

The account was in the wife's name and she was entitled to do as she pleased with the money.

She wasn't even legally married to Manich, they had never officially recorded their marriage (jot thabian).

It’s tempting but can’t help but feel for the bloke. Majorly sucks, not to mention the loss of face. Why on earth do fellas trust their women like that though?

The gentleman should try to find out if his wife was being "serviced" by someone else and then thrown out of the house!

Sounds like the copper might be nailing her as well...

He does appear to be an honest and trusting husband. I find it sad that women cry about wishing for a good husband and then they do the dirty on them so easily. She will return penniless when the new boyfriend dumps her and she will try to return to this good man. He will take her back is my bet.

So he is foolish. Needs a good lawyer.

I am sorry to say, but women around the world have proven to be increasingly fickle.  A man should never take it for granted that things are always rosy and the woman of their life will be forever devoted to him.

It is a definite sign of the times.  Women have never been so unfaithful as current modern times it seems.  The old time of couples wed for life is history.  Men should self insure themselves against financial losses.  Never, ever take women for granted.

Men have become the victim of 'wokeness', have become SIMPS and chest beating 'White Knights', trying to outdo each other as the feminist movement gains hold worldwide.  Men are falling for the scam IMHO.  Men have historically been the promiscuous ones, but women have caught up and possibly overtook men (women have the advantage of being able to be more promiscuous as men typically chase down women of all shapes and sizes).

Women easily manipulate most men, who unfortunately too often place women on a pedestal to worship.  Modern social media and global internet access to other cultures has ensured the downfall of traditional cultures. Thai women are just the same/worse than the West.

I came here with the naïve idea that Thai women were more trustworthy than the West.  Definitely not the case.  And it has just worsened over the near 20 years I have visited here.  Just look at the women glued to their phones, taking selfies all the time, totally self absorbed in vanity and narcissism.  Individual stories of "oh but my wife and I have been together for xx years" are exceptions to the trend and therefore do not classify as the norm.

If you have money, for sure you have a better chance of retaining a woman here.  That dries up and they will walk away in a flash.  And in this case, this poor Thai guy foolishly entrusted the money into his partner's account.  Morals, dignity and ethics are predominantly no longer present in this terribly fickle society.  And it is not exclusive to Thailand.  it has been replaced by selfishness, greed and narcissism worldwide.

It's because of this fact that I now enjoy so much time in Thailand, but wary of ever getting seriously involved . While it was devastating for me when my wife left me for a friend of ours after after 25 years of marriage , it left me in a position where I was free to travel solo to SE Asia and spend 4/5 months a year in Thailand now .
im gonna make a collection to get her a Thank You card ... Defo wouldn't pay for one out of my own pocket though. Lol.

Ooo I bet you're wonderin' how I knew
'Bout your plans to make me blue
With some other guy that you knew before
Between the two of us guys
You know I loved you more
It took me by surprise I must say
When I found out yesterday
Ooo I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Ooo I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind
