Chinese woman held after compatriot who stole her Russian husband is brutally murdered

Thai Rath reported on a love triangle including blackmail that played out on We Chat and in real life in downtown Bangkok.

 

The result was a 24 year old Chinese woman being found murdered in a shopping center toilets and a compatriot on a murder charge.

 

Thung Song Hong police went to Urban Square shopping center in Prachacheun Soi 12, Laksi district, where they found Ms Xiong Ziyi dead from 29 stab wounds.

 

She was an international business student at Dhurakij Bhandit university and was on overstay in Thailand.

 

The assailant was there at the scene to surrender.

 

She is Ms Tang Jan, 36, an online trader who is also on overstay after arriving in Thailand on a tourist visa. 

 

She gave evidence that a while back she employed Ms Xiong as an interpreter between herself and her Russian husband.

 

They had all met on the app popular with Chinese, We Chat. 

 

After some time it became apparent that the interpreter had formed a relationship with the Russian. 

Pictures of the pair together circulated. 

 

Tang ordered her rival to stop seeing her husband and telling the world about it.

The reply was not what she wanted to hear. She would not only continue but would put clips and stills of Tang naked on We Chat unless she paid her blackmail demands.

 

Tang assumed she had got such material from her husband.

Ultimately the pair decided to meet in a restaurant at Urban Square but it only made matters worse.

 

When the younger woman stormed off Tang went after her with a knife she'd brought and stabbed her once.

 

The victim staggered into the toilets where Tang frenziedly attacked her multiple times until she was dead. 

 

She was charged with premeditated murder, weapons offences and overstay and detained by the Thung Song Hong police.

It was the "love toy" who was blackmailing her. If someone's threatening to post private naked photos of you online, some retaliation is justified. Obviously not murder though.

Since there are already millions of Thais of Chinese descent living legally in Thailand, it is quite easy for Chinese to blend in.  If they learn to speak Thai then it is often quite difficult to tell the legal ones from the illegal ones.
