Featured Replies

A question for our Chiang Mai cheese experts.

Any suggestions where to buy a home size block of parmessan cheese in Chiang Mai at reasonable price much appreciated.

Thanks.

Makro

Yes, I agree with Makro. They usually sell smaller pieces from around 200 baht up to around 1 kilo blocks.

give Cello brand a pass ... terrible

'My' side by side taste test, and it has none ????

Here's an interesting, and surprising 'taste test', and take away what you want from it.

+1 for Makro, I seem to remember the blocks are ~1.3kg and are the best tasting and best value option.

I was surprised, as was the YTer, during his taste test, depending how used, there wasn't much difference in the jarred grated & some blocks of.

I usual add as topping to pastas & salads, so I think I would notice.  Prefer fresh grated to the 'green shake' bottle, as that was always a turn off, though might be mental ????

Makros usually have a good selection, more if in an expat infested town.  Best prices also.

Hua Hin has a lot more selection than our local/PKK Makro.  Strangely, a bit more expensive for some items, even though closer to Krung Thep distribution centers ... hmm.

What size is the OP's home?

Mine is around 380 square meters so doubtful the 300 gr size will cover it.

Rimping near the Nawarat bridge has a large selection of imported cheeses, although no guarantee on cost possible.

Beware the wording. 9 out of 10 products we inspected on the shelves of one large specialist grocery store were labeled Parmesan style Cheese, with the word style being barely perceptible. You gets what you pays for.
