Popular Post webfact
Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported a new development as the fallout from one of Thailand's most notorious cases continued more than ten years after the event. This concerns the case of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya or Boss who drove his Ferrari into Pol Sen Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert killing him in September 2012. Principally it concerns evidence tampering by a senior prosecutor regarding the speed of the hit and run. Boss remains a fugitive abroad but many senior police and prosecutors in Thailand have faced and are facing sanctions. In a latest move the Public Prosecutors' Commission said yesterday that they are discharging Chainarong Saengthong-aram from the service. He is a former senior prosecutor at the Office of the Attorney General, Thailand's most senior prosecutors' office. Initial reports showed that Boss had driven his luxury car at 177 kmph. However, this was later revised to below 80 kmph. Because of this lower speed rating Nate Naksuk, former OAG director, dropped charges and then became the latest fall guy. A disciplinary probe was launched into the irregularities of the speed of the car and found there were grounds for a charge of tampering with evidence. Chainarong had already resigned but a probe panel recommended sacking him because of the serious nature of the offence. Boss himself remains free despite Interpol Red Notices. He is regularly seen around the world especially at Formula 1 events but appears untouchable and out of reach of the Thai police. In a few years the last charges against him will have to be dropped due to the statute of limitations having expired. Some charges have already fallen by the wayside in a case that has always been seen as "one law for the rich and another for the rest", notes ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-12-03 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. What this article does not tell you is that they are not prosecuting Chainarong at all! They have let him off because he had a previously good record and to allow him to keep his his pension after the big hat stepped in. I assume he kept stum on whoever instructed him to tamper with evidence and was rewarded accordingly. This country continues to flabbergast me at times. Its all so blatant. So....they rehired him for a day to sack him ? Pathetic . Like giving out a death sentence to a dead body. They are all as bad as each other. Birds of a feather flock together. The frightening thing to consider is that everyone involved has had the best possible education , probably studied abroad , and has a university degree. Yet instead of being the top cream of society they are just a bunch of money grubbing scumbags. And they have the effrontary to look down their noses at an honest farmer from the Northeast. 2 hours ago, webfact said: In a few years the last charges against him will have to be dropped due to the statute of limitations having expired. If these low life bottom feeder types can tear up countless constitutions then resetting the charges to zero should be easy peasy. Certainly would be if it was a member of the Shinawatra clan. 15 1

Popular Post richard_smith237
Discharged.... I doubt he cares one bit... Early retirement with a pension and whatever ‘extra’ he was given... In Thailand there is no incentive whatsoever ever to be anything other than corrupt. Corrupt is the norm here. It's socially accepted and expected. You are the odd one out and strange if you are not part of the corruption... You will face trouble IF you go against the status quo. ----- I have a mate, from a wealthy family, decent position as police officer, refused to be corrupt. His car was scratched, his house was shot at... he’s now part of the system and just accepts things the way they are... he gets his promotions and takes his ‘extra’... Scratch the surface of Thailand and we see the vapid rot destroying the fabric of society. Popular Post Confuscious
The "Red Bull Case" will go into Thai history as the case which pointed all the greedy and <deleted> of the Thai Lawmakers. Popular Post Spock
Why bother disciplining this guy and others when the red bull heir wanders the world untouched. I doubt that too many Thai people are even concerned about this miscarriage of justice. I am sure most people accept his preferential treatment as just par for the course in Thailand. Thailand all too often fails to take a moral position on important issues, including this case and the invasion of the Ukraine. 11

The ordinary farang in Thailand should not perceive that this episode has anything to do with them. The wealthy in all countries in the world get a leg up over the less well-to-do, whether this is because they can afford better lawyers -- or the system affords them an outright bribe situation, as this case represents. Absolutely nothing that should alarm the ordinary farang in Thailand. In fact, that corruption is so naked, as this episode represents, actually shows the other side of the coin, namely, a bribe can smooth over some bureaucratic road bumps, like certain Immigration requirements. And everyone can end happily: You get the extension you need; the agent gets a fat fee; and the Imm officer gets part of that fee, so that he's now getting paid what he should be -- and the Thai taxpayer is NOT funding that pay raise. What's so bad about this form of corruption...... Quote Never, ever trust any of them. Has served me well in 30 odd years here and keeps me from being surprised and prepares me for when they inevitably try to do me over. Why do you still live here, if they "inevitably" will try and do you over? Paranoia is a terrible disease to live with. Using this example as a warning to farang visitors *against* Thailand is baloney. Corruption has been with Asia for eons. It probably will never ever affect you here in Thailand -- and if it does, as pointed out, might be in your favor. No, corruption should not be on any visitor's radar. But, being much less likely to be mugged in the streets of a Thai city, verses the streets of Chicago or Wash DC -- might be a topic of discussion for future visitors/retirees. Corruption in Thailand will never go away. It's the way things have been done for ages -- and it greases more skids than not. Judging it by Western standards is a non starter. 6 1 1

Utterly shameful, that this so called prosecutor has not been arrested, disbarred, or somehow taken out of service before now. Remember those promises to root out corruption 8 long years ago? Hey Cha Cha, what ever happened with your promises to root out your bad apple immigration guys, on the border? They likely let in thousands, to line their greedy pockets. Do you care at all, on any level, about anything other than your own enrichment, and the vintage of ridiculously expensive champagne you will have this evening? What about corrupt cops, prosecutors, and customs guys? There is no saying the extent of the corruption in this administration, but the army is not exactly known for integrity. You must step down, or be removed. You are the most toxic force this nation has endured for a very long time. The youth is right. You must go. Out.
