They keep talking about elicit "student visa's" ... what about those Chinese that got Thai ID cards?  Those seem to need high level IO support to get.

I think that would involve the Special Branch Bureau as they are the ones that handle naturalization.

Corruption in Immigration has been going on for decades and hardly a surprised shock or news for anyone.

Since Chinese Triads started to come over is when it all became a problem, what they failing to understand is that so far triads have been playing nice, it does not mean it will stay this way if things become hard for them.

Chuwit eventually served jail time for what happened that day, perhaps he's now targeting all the people he holds responsible for him serving time?

Yeah you could say he was sentenced for 2 years, 13 years after the fact but did not serve full term as he was pardoned. still well connected ????

Why do some members repeatedly conflate the agents and their ways for getting poor old farangs an extension with the several millions, maybe billions, of payments accepted by senior IO's to allow Chinese to become Thai and buy land? As I suggested in an earlier thread, they aren't in the least bit interested in broke old men squatting on the in-laws land in Isaan no matter how much you wish they were.

Yes indeed, its like a broken record?

Over the past few weeks there have been multiple articles published on AN about Chinese gangsters, businessmen etc operating illegal casinos, clubs etc. Just yesterday an article was published on the "'Super Rich' Chinese gangsters who call Thailand home."

The agents/IO's facilitating retirement extensions pales into insignificance compared to what the corrupt Chinese gangsters are getting up to? We are not talking a few hundred million baht, but possibly  a few hundred billion baht all told?

Well said.

Here's an extreme example of a farang overthinking his importance / entitlement in the LOS.

Very wealthy older farang (gay but that's a side point) been retired in LOS with retirement visa for about 20 years.

This year didn't renew his retirement visa and got tip off immigration looking for him, friends bundled him to the airport and pushed him to pay the fine and leave.

His resaon for not renewing his retirement visa:

- 'But everybody knows how much money I give to Thai boys (meaning over 18), so surely I qualify for not necessary to have any visa'.

And he is generous to Thai boys (as said above this is NOT meaning under age), And he 'entertains' many young men in his very large expensive home.

His comment is not surprising, that's how he sees life. He's almost never been outside of Pattaya and has no real vision/understanding of what real Thailand looks like, city or country, how society works, survives, how families exist and survive in the rest of Thailand.

He sees Thailand in his own gay picture of his ever present image and thoughts of gay life and his belief that every thai boy is desperate for his idea of entertainment.

He seriously believes:  'But everybody knows how much money I give to Thai boys (meaning over 18), so surely I qualify for not necessary to have any visa'.

Corruption nowadays permeates everything (actually like this for a very long time already), and nothing of any real impact is being done to reduce and to stop coruption.

Part of the problem is that so many cops and gov't officers are involved they don't speak up because they reveal their own corruption activities.

In other words the problem just multiplies.

The useless PM promised he would stop corruption. He's done nothing. And it's been revealed several times his own close family deeply involved.

It's world wide. The West said "We are going to sanction Russian oligarchs  and confiscate their assets" oh yeah? And the last Australian gov't was among the most corrupt  bunch of rorters I can remember."Money,,,Money changes everything" as the song goes

One must remember he will get a 5% cut of any of these assets once sold , its not about payback etc etc he wants the money plain and simple .

The man knows his stuff,  his rise comes from the same corruption he now whistle-blows about. What is missed in the story is the one cop he speaks of didn't mass that amount from only the Chinese but only Chinese is important now that they near own their country the lost of the control is what bothers Chuwit Patriotism. Doesn't want to kiss the feet of the Chinese Master which is what XI expected not a handshake! ????

Maybe Big Joke can clear this whole thing up? ????

Look, I'm no expert but it doesn't take an expert to realize that all our falang problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy mixed up country.   Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow but soon, and for the rest of your lives you'll have to deal with this Chinese triad problem. Will we always have Bangkok? Only if brave men like Chuvit stand up and be counted.

Anecdotes are not evidence anymore than "he said, she said,"

But this is Thailand where a word from the right person (Elite, Hi-So, Good Person) is judicial evidence.

If you're referring to DSI (Department of Special Investigations), that is supervised by PM Prayut (also supervises RTP). Or not perhaps depending who might be a Subject of an investigation.

Back in the day, Chuwit was backed by the army. Chuwit park saga started when he arrived with army and cleared all the merchants and police could not do a thing.

Safe to assume he still has some backing of the army and this is why police do not dare to touch him

Have been out of touch, what is the latest on his ark near Soi ten Sukhumvit
