Bad air in December and now January….Too early…!!

Featured Replies

just moved from patts to small village top of mountains in korat near khoa yai,
the pollution here is currently horrendous
has made us all sick for weeks
all due to sugar cane farming
as they burn the fields/waste after harvesting
the haze in the morning as they burn at night is ridiculous some morning with visibility sometimes less than 4km and often less than 6km
(distance from my house to nearby mountain tops)

The annual disappearance of Doi Suthep is in full swing, invisible from not very far away.

Pollution was so bad at sunrise (AQI 99) that the sun looked orange.  Sun not on the horizon, but well above it @ 0715 hrs, so not due to shorter wavelength colors (blues and violets) get scattered out.

Did you mean PM2.5 of 99?

I bet you did didn't realize that PM2.5 of 99 was a GOOD readng for these days.

Roght now in CM I'm seeing PM2.5 of 135 - 160

= AQI 192 - 210.

Not in my world, and unacceptable.  Why I don't live any further north than where we are.  Our normal is <75 AQI, though that usually means 3-5X WHO's suggested PM25 levels, unless AQI is well under 50, still not the healthies.

OH KRAP ... W T F ... going downhill today, think I'll hang out indoors today, after dog takes me for my walk to the park.  In the car instead of MB

Not sure where they source their info.   Sometimes my meter agrees, sometimes not.
