Phuket – Elephant camp businesses in Phuket are ready to welcome Chinese tourists.

An elephant business operator near the Nark Kerd Hill (Khao Phra Yai) in Soi Yod Sanae, Chalong, told the Phuket Express that Chinese tourists were the main tourists who visited elephant camps in Phuket before Covid -19. In fact, Chinese tourists amounted for about 80 percent of foreign tourists visiting elephant parks overall.

In recent times, slightly more than 60 percent of elephant camp customers are Russian and Kazakhstani tourists.

Because most other nationalities have moved into the 21st century and no longer wish to exploit animals.

Driving up to Big Buddah on Phuket I noticed a few new elephant corrals being built for visitors as well as hundreds of ATVs, looks like they expect business to be grand...there is slso a Tiger park .....

So sad to see this venture still going on, I really hoped that tourists had found something better to do than pay for incarcerated elephants being used to take them on walks.

Elephants and Tigers incarcerated for the so called pleasure of tourists and Thai profiteers.

Here is one of I think, if I counted right, 10 different locations going up big Buddah hill. Sad reality for the poor animals. So close to the road. That photos from the motorbike as we were riding by.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought "Elephant Buffet." ????

It's a good thing that Big Joke and Big Massage have driven the Triads out of Thailand.

If they hadn't done that we might have seen Chinese elephant camp owners both  burning out Thai competitors and on the same day all you can eat elephant barbecues.

The treatment these poor animals receive is utterly disgusting. Cruel beyond belief. Shame on you Thailand.

My biggest regret I have now is doing the Tiger Temple during a trip to the river Kwia and the Graves and the elephant riding. I should of known better.  However, I do regret not buying an elephant painting. That was a "I'll get one next time" moment which never happened.

The chinese are just the worst, absolutely ZERO respect for anyone or anything.

There are exceptions of course and I do not want to generalize.
