The search resumed Wednesdayin the seas around Koh Pha-ngan, in Thailand’s southern province of Surat Thani, for a German tourist who jumped into the sea from a double-decked ferry last night, as it was heading for Koh Samui.

The skipper of the ferry reportedly told the police that the boat had left Koh Pha-ngan less than 20 minutes before a passenger, later identified as German national Florain Storz, who was travelling with his wife, stood up and threw himself overboard from the second deck on the starboard of the vessel. The incident was reported by the skipper to the police on Koh Pha-ngan and a sea search was immediately mounted. It continued until 10.30pm, when it was suspended due to rough seas and lack of light.

Marine and tourist police, local officials and the private sector on Koh Pha-ngan are taking part in the effort to find him.

That a person just throw himself overboard is really strange. However, I don´t see the point looking for him, as he did it out of free will.

Let him be fish food. That's what he wanted, that's what he should get.

Why use all those resources for someone who wanted to die and is probably already dead?

There are reports from witnesses and then there's your thinly-veiled conspiracy theory.  Do you have evidence of it being something more sinister?

Compassion for his family plus it's the right thing to do.

Maybe he should have thought about that before he jumped into the sea.

There they go.

Think you missed the plot/ irony.

Think you missed including some clarity in your comment.  As there was no indication of any sarcasm in your post, I presumed you were suggesting that his death could be compared to those odd balcony deaths.

Perhaps his wife and family would like him to have a funeral.

I would think she´s just mad at him for jumping

It takes 3 to 4 days for the body to float back to the surface. I imagine that unless currents affect his

travels, he will be spotted shortly by passing boats and ships and ferries. In My Opinion anyway.

You are not supposed to mention the war.

I mentioned it once.

But I think I got away with it.

There is usually little follow up on stories, but I have just read in a Phuket news outlet that the poor man's body has been found.

The body was identified by a tattoo.

RIP
