Age 61 UK

Due for extension in May.

For the past few years I've been on so called wife visa.

Just noticed that this year I've maintained ( and will maintain) a balance of at least 430K- all year at all times.

And that I've had regular weekly income going into same bank account of around 35-40k ( I think about 430k in total).

Just wondering if that could swing a retirement visa by way of combination?

Or nice thought but there's a catch?

Doubt this would be easier than another "Thai Wife" extension. Unless you got divorced or separated.

I always thought it easier to let the wife deal with IOs. Now I'll deal with BOI's people, who are normal.

Not sure about Surat Thani but Chaeng Wattana only accepts THB 800,000 in a Thai bank account for  the initial Non O issuance.  They accept monthly transfers for the extension, not sure about combination method.

Retirement visa requires 800k, not 400.

If you want a retirement visa without freezing the cash, consider an agent. I paid 30k for my first year (15 months actually) and every subsequent renewal has been 14k.

I switched from "Thai Wife" to Retirement and it was easy. No additional documents needed. But must say I had the 800k in the account way way way before I changed

Ps: We are still married. (Reason why I changed because I hate that Under Consideration Period (45 days it took one time)

Thanks for answers but my query is specifically about the combination option for proof of income, ie, 430k deposit- 430k income throughout year.

Combination is AFAIK not allowed for retirement only for Marriage.

So it's 65.000 THB per month income OR 800.000 THB in a Thai Bank Account

Weekly? Then that is sufficient.

You have that backwards. Combination is supposed to be possible for retirement extensions (though some immigration offices will tell you otherwise). Combination is never possible for marriage extensions.

To the OP: check with Surat Thani immigration office. It should be possible, depending on whether you can show the deposits into your bank account came from abroad. As someone else advised, they will probably want to see your wife, even though you are switching to a retirement extension.

This thread is really about using the combination method for the so called retirement visa.  It's not about any other type of extension.

It's well known that the combo method is available for the retirement visa, however the requirements are less certain- which is why I made the posting in all honesty.

I appreciate you believe it is not possible. However most people are certain that it is.

For marriage extensions, you can use bank deposits or income (not a combination of the two). For retirement extensions, the rules explicitly state that a combination is possible (although many immigration offices are very restrictive in how it can be done, and a few will deny the possibility even exists). Lealy!
