E.g. when leaving Thailand for a trip abroad and you did buy a Re-Entry Permit to protect the remaining months on your Non Imm O or O-A extension.  Then when re-entering Thailand with that Re-Entry Permit, you would expect that from the date of re-entry you would have once again 90 days for confirming your official address for Immigration purposes by doing the 90-day report.

But this is Thailand and logic often does not seem to apply on some of the Immigration rules.

Note: If the re-entry does not affect your 90-day reporting date, and you still have to do it on the previously allocated date by Immigration (the small slip in your passport), then what about when that date did already pass during your trip abroad?

Yes, it resets. The date on the slip in your passport is irrelevant whether it fell during the time you where out of the country or not. If you reported online previously you will still get a reminder email at the wrong time which you can ignore.

 

Yes it does, you are thinking to much. 

You must report every 90 days if you stay in the country that long without leaving it. Has nothing to do with anything else. And it always starts counting again when you arrive.

It resets with a single reentry permit and a multiple reentry permit. 

Lol I cant believe this qustion keeps coming up. The 90 day report is for days spent in Thailand. If you leave Thailand the report is not required. It starts a new 90 day period as soon as you re enter. Nothing to do with re entry permits.

Thai Immigration rules are a jungle where you can easily be led astray (especially since there is no consistency in how Immigration Offices interpret and apply the rules).

How difficult is it to count 89 days after you arrive in the country, put it on your whiteboard, or a piece of paper in your wallet/passport. And remember that you have a week before and after to do it. And it can be done online.

Would one be able to report his/herself  again online straight away when arriving back or have to go back to immigration and do the report in person like the first 90day reporting? 

Remember: Arrival day counts as day one.

In Jomtien if you are on a long stay visa & are returning to the same address then no need to do a TM30 (which I believe other Immigration Offices require) & you can continue to do your 90 Day reports (TM47) online without having to attend in person for the 1st report after your back. 
 

YMMV with other immigration offices. 
 

As an aside, doing a TM30 when you change your address does not reset the 90 Day reporting clock so I found myself having to do a TM30 (estate agent did it for me when we moved into the new condo) & then 2 weeks later having to do a 90 Day report as per previous 90 Day Report schedule. 

Don't forget to report your address to IMO within 24hrs after arrival to avoid a future 1,500bt+ fine ???? 

Yes, as you leave. Reenter start the counting from day 1.

Could even be two weeks before.
