No, the aim is for people to give  a personal opinion, rather than just laughing .

Say what you think , rather than just laughing

Sometimes, with some people, it is best to just laugh. That is better than crying. And it is a lot better than trying to convince somebody that the earth is not flat.

  • In future we will hit the 'red love' reaction to show our hate for a post.

What is work ? :cheesy:

These sort of questions deserve a laughing emoticon as it normally is a waist of time to answer this but because of the topic i do it once.

One poster who is prone to writing lengthy dissertations, recently argued  a case in favor of his topic of the day although the argument wasn't based on any quoted fact and no links were supplied to support it. I posted an opposite view but supported mine with numbers and quoted and linked facts. That posters response was surprising, he posted a laughing emoji. Others have done similar in the past and I always wonder why that is. I think the psychology is interesting and wonder what sort of message were they trying to send. Regardless of the message they were trying to send, the one I received was, my hypothesis has been undercut by fact that I can't dispute and now I look silly, rather than try and debate it I'll exit and limit the damage by making the other guy appear silly.

I confess I still don't fully understand those things.

the biggest problem with talking on forums is you don't know who you're talking to.

you're talking to a bunch of anonymous avatars.

maybe if you met this person in real life, you'd quickly realize it's not someone you should be wasting time talking to.

Correct.

But to be fair, I think we should also manage our expectations about the users and opinions on this site.

If I want to know if I can expect a good time in Soi 6 then I am sure here are enough guys who would be able to answer that question and maybe they will even do that. But maybe they make of me just for fun.

If I would have a technical computer question, not specifically related to Thailand, then I wouldn't ask here. I would try to research in expert places or maybe ask in an expert forum.

I think AN if for lite entertainment and maybe some info about Thailand. But definitely not the go to place for serious conversations.

One thing that stands out to me is we go through life being graded.

Here is a level playing field for opinions.

Although the ex A graders do take advantage.

Obviously you can also discuss the latest AI technologies.

But I have a suspicion about which subject there will be more combined knowledge with most of the members. ????

I am closing this topic as an announcement will be made shortly.

Changes are going to be made and the details will be posted.
