Environmental activist Greta Thunberg has been detained twice during a demonstration in favour of Indigenous rights in Norway.

On Monday, Ms Thunberg joined protesters demanding the removal of 151 wind turbines from reindeer pastures used by Sami herders in central Norway.

She said a transition to green energy should not come at the expense of Indigenous rights.

Norway apologises to reindeer herders over wind farm after Oslo protests

Norway's government has apologised to reindeer herders following protests over a wind farm built on land they have used for centuries.

Activists, mostly teenagers, started demonstrating a week ago and have blocked several government buildings in the capital Oslo.

They say the presence of the 151 turbines violates the rights of the Sami people and is operating in contravention of a 2021 Supreme Court court ruling.

The windmills is on 20% of that total raindeer area. 6 families with 33 people have their income on the area. Only heaven know how much sudsidies they get from government annually. The windmills produces sufficient electric for 150.000 people..

I'll take your word for it but the Norwegian Supreme Court ruled it was illegal.

Oh, the irony. A environmentalist protesting the setting up of clean energy.

can't the reindeers eat around the windmills? They don't take up that much grass.

You can't have your cake and eat it, Greta...

nope, using carbon neutral energy sources is not the issue at all. Read the OP a little more carefully why don’t you.

The indigenous people can move and still retain their culture.  The turbines can be moved and still produce electricity.

Burn her at the stake lmao ???? kinda a bit over the top I am curious do the windmills terrify the reindeer?if so then perhaps the Sammy have a complaint about it it is funny ???? in a ironic way

I don't see how windmills impinge on the ability of animals to feed in their vicinity. Is there more to this story than is apparent?

She has to keep her name in the public arena or be forgotten, LOL.

There may be more to this story but if you had bothered to read the story you would have your answer.

Another mind reader who  knows Thunberg's motivation.

Rudolph doesn't like walking around the base of a wind turbine, Greta the pest wants to be involved with any protesters to keep her income going.

Of course, you would back anything a protester was protesting about, even Santa's rig....:cowboy:

Deflect away all you wish, but the fact remains this issue is not about the use of carbon neutral energy sources, as you claimed.

Oh, and trying to make this personal by making erroneous claims about myself is quite possibly trolling behaviour.

Evidence?

Were the wind turbines decapitating the reindeer? ????

You might want to consider asking such questions after reading the article.
